KTH is developing a third-generation VLSI design style called Synchoros VLSI design style.

SiLago (Silicon Lego) is a Lego-inspired design framework built on this design style; https://youtu.be/98gw7hpRLCU (https://youtu.be/98gw7hpRLCU). The microarchitectural foundation of the SiLago framework is a heterogeneous CGRA structure with a parallel distributed control system. This postdoctoral position will work on improving an existing synthesis framework by integrating it into the MLIR framework and enhancing its synthesis engine to target systolic arrays and SIMD architectures built with the heterogeneous CGRA structure. Such a synthesis engine will be used to build a library of algorithm implementations for AI/ML in various dimensions and degrees of parallelism and explore the design space at the application and system level, where an application is defined as a hierarchy of algorithms and systems as competing and communicating applications.

Qualifications

Requirements

PhD degree or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD in electronic design automation and compilers. This eligibility requirement must be met by the time of the employment decision.
Strong background in computer architecture, digital design, compiler design for hardware accelerators, optimization techniques such as constraint solvers, simulated annealing, genetic algorithms, Tabu search, etc.
Strong background in C++, Python, MLIR/LLVM.
Good communication and presentation skills, fluent in English both spoken and written as required in daily work
Team player, self-driven, and creative

Meritorious

At the time of the application deadline, no more than three years since the PhD degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to the PhD was obtained.
Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality
Ability to teach undergraduate courses in digital design and HDL.
