Region Norrbotten is seeking an engaged and knowledgeable infection control physician to lead and develop our infection control work. As an infection control physician, you will play a central role in preventing and managing infectious diseases in the region. Your workplace will be the Patient Safety Unit, which has a coordinating role for the region's patient safety work.
Through our areas of expertise in patient safety, pharmaceuticals, healthcare hygiene, infection control, and radiation safety, we work to develop and follow up on systematic patient safety efforts. We are organizationally placed in the Health and Medical Care Department within the Regional Director's office.

We are looking for

We are looking for a licensed physician, preferably with a specialization in infectious diseases or clinical microbiology. It is an advantage if you have prior experience in infection control work, handling media contacts, and Microsoft 365.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. As a person, you are stable, self-driven, and communicative. You are clear, structured, and have good collaboration skills.

This is what you will work with

The infection control physician is an independent authority responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the infection control work within Region Norrbotten. The infection control physician collaborates with other authorities and healthcare providers to ensure effective contact tracing and outbreak management by monitoring the infection control situation and taking preventive measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases among people. You will provide advice and support to healthcare personnel and the public on infection control issues and participate in training initiatives and information campaigns.

Together with your infection control team, consisting of nurses, medical secretaries, and deputy infection control physicians, you will monitor and analyze epidemiological data to identify and manage infection risks. You will have contact with the public, healthcare personnel, authorities, municipalities, and media regarding infectious diseases. As the team leader for infection control, you will support employees in their daily work, keep the team motivated, promote collaboration, and prioritize daily tasks as needed. You will report to the unit manager at the Patient Safety Unit.

Information about the position

We offer a permanent full-time position, daytime Monday to Friday. Start date 2025-06-01.
The position is classified in a security class, which means that a security review will be conducted according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) and the Security Protection Ordinance (2018:658).
Selection and interviews will be ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
