Sports Grounds Keeper with a Focus on Turf Management

Job Responsibilities

In your role as a sports grounds keeper, you will be responsible, along with your colleagues, for maintaining our elite football pitches in the stadium area of Malmö. You will work with elite activities and ensure that the grass on the facilities is in excellent condition. You need to have good knowledge of grass development, machinery, and maintenance.

In your role as a sports grounds keeper, you will work to maintain the football pitches, which involves dressing, verticutting, sowing, fertilizing, turfing, driving, aerating, watering, and draining.

The role also includes administrative work to establish a maintenance plan for soil chemistry, soil science, and plant science to be implemented on our football pitches. You will handle procurement and purchasing of consumables, machinery, tools, tractors, and maintain these.

The working hours are primarily scheduled during the day, but evening and weekend shifts may occur during events.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a high school diploma or other education and/or experience that the employer considers equivalent. You have previously worked with the maintenance of football pitches at an elite level or golf courses. You also have education in green space management, such as greenkeeping or groundsman. It is also desirable that you have previously worked with community life. A driving license for a manual transmission vehicle is required. Furthermore, we see that you have basic IT skills and good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

To succeed in this role, we believe you are a service-minded person, meticulous, and have an eye for detail. Since you will have a lot of contact with customers in the role of sports grounds keeper, we see that you have a good demeanor and strong collaboration skills. As a person, you are flexible and can easily adapt to new circumstances.

About the Workplace

The stadium unit is part of the operations department within the leisure administration, which works to meet the citizens of Malmö in the same way and with the same service throughout the city. The stadium area includes several larger facilities for training, matches, and public events. There is a development plan for the stadium area that means the area is growing. Several new facilities are being built or planned to be built in the near future, including a new multi-hall for which the unit will have operational responsibility.

The stadium unit comprises four operational sections with about 40 employees and four section managers responsible for the daily operations of the facilities. We have also conducted training in LGBTQIA+ related issues, something we are proud of. Our workplace is characterized by diversity and reflects the structure of society.
