Unit Manager for the Security Unit

The management staff within Region Västerbotten is responsible for and drives strategic and overall quality development and provides support for the organization in implementing improvements. The staff is also responsible for ensuring that case preparation is correct, so that civil service management and political leadership can make well-founded and transparent decisions. Within the management staff, there is broad expertise in areas such as public health, gender equality, crisis preparedness, civil defense, security, law, archives, management and development work, investigations, case preparation, infection control, and much more.
The Security Unit is tasked with supporting both regional management and operations in preparedness and security issues. The unit consists of about 12 employees and works as a coordinator within the functions of preparedness, security, environment, and ownership governance. The unit manager is part of the management group along with the other unit managers within the management staff and reports to the head of the staff.
We are now looking for an engaged and development-driven unit manager for the security unit. RESPONSIBILITIES
As a unit manager with us, you see the whole and the potential and take us forward with courage. You take responsibility for your operations based on your authority and represent the employer by leading and developing towards the agreed goals for the benefit of the region.
The Security Unit is tasked with supporting regional management and operations in security and preparedness issues. The unit manager is responsible for the work and ensures quality, delivery, and development. The unit includes tasks related to coordinating the region-wide support for preparedness and security issues, process responsibility for special healthcare management and mass casualty planning. Collaboration and coordination in the county, active contributions in the four northernmost counties and nationally, as well as other strategic external collaboration, contacts, and communication are also important components.
As the security manager, you lead the work in the unit and together with the employees drive the development work in the various areas. You work with systematic occupational health and safety efforts at various levels, in collaboration with both your employees, managerial colleagues, and safety representatives. You are part of and participate in the management group's work with other unit managers within the management staff, which means you share a common responsibility for the whole. You have an important role in creating, improving, and developing long-term sustainability regarding work environment, environment, economy, and engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have a relevant university degree or other education or experience that the employer deems equivalent. You have previously worked as a manager and had personnel, financial, and operational responsibility and have experience in development-oriented work. You should also have previous experience in strategic work within preparedness and security.
To succeed in the role, you should be development-driven in your leadership and have the ability to create engagement and unleash the development potential of your employees. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish both orally and in writing, as well as good computer skills.
Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities, which affect the ability to carry out the task. We are looking for someone who combines willpower, initiative, and a future vision with organizational ability. You also have strong interpersonal qualities such as trust, diplomacy, and openness. You need to be supportive and collaborative, willing to change, and have the ability to take a long-term and strategic approach to your work. It is also important that you are structured and methodical in your work.
It is an advantage if applicants for our managerial positions have completed the region's program Tomorrow's Managers or other leadership training. Experience in similar assignments within the region or municipality is an advantage, and several years of managerial experience is desirable. If you have worked with or have knowledge of change management, that is also an advantage. It is desirable that you have good knowledge of English.
The position is classified in a security class and requires Swedish citizenship.
OTHER
The assignment as a manager within Region Västerbotten is a fixed-term appointment usually for 4 years, combined with a permanent position within your area of expertise.
