Storumans municipality is looking for a new CEO as our current one is retiring after 16 successful years. We are seeking a strategic and development-oriented leader with experience in municipal or public administration, who wants to continue driving our municipality towards sustainable growth and success.

About the position

As CEO, you will have overall responsibility for leading and coordinating the municipality's operations. You will work closely with the municipality's political leadership, department heads, and the secretariat to ensure that our municipality develops strategically and sustainably.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing the municipality according to established strategies and goals.
• Managing the municipality's finances, including budgeting and follow-up.
• Coordinating and leading the municipality's departments towards common goals.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with political bodies, authorities, and external partners.
• Being a driving force in the municipality's development and change efforts.
• Reporting to the municipal council and other decision-making bodies.

Who are you?

We are looking for a leader with strong strategic abilities and a great commitment to municipal development. You have solid experience from leadership roles and understand the interplay between politics and administration. We prefer that you have:

• A university degree in public administration, economics, law, or management.
• Several years of experience in strategic leadership, preferably within the public sector at the municipal or regional level.
• Documented experience in financial management and budget responsibility.
• The ability to lead and develop large organizations and teams.
• Experience in collaboration with political bodies and external actors.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience in change management and strategic development.

As a person, you are confident, analytical, and development-oriented. You have a good understanding of the municipality's role in society and are driven by creating long-term benefits for citizens.

About the organization

Storumans municipality is a large municipality in Southern Lapland. Approximately 6,000 people live here, with just over half of them in the urban areas of Storuman/Stensele and Tärnaby/Hemavan. For those who enjoy living actively and close to nature, there is a fantastic range of activities available, both in summer and winter. Our municipality has a stable economy and has been characterized by considerate politics and constructive governance and opposition.
