About the position:
As the Head Chef at Sigtuna Stadshotell, you will have overall responsibility for the hotel's kitchen and all food preparation served to our guests. You will lead a dedicated kitchen team and ensure that we deliver high-quality dishes and a memorable experience for all our guests, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, conference dinner, or à la carte. You are a key person in maintaining the hotel's reputation for fantastic food and service.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the kitchen team: Be responsible for scheduling, training, and developing the kitchen staff.
- Food production: Plan and oversee food preparation during breakfast, lunch, conference dinners, and à la carte. Ensure that all meals are of high quality and that the menus are both creative and seasonal. As we are Swan-certified, you will be responsible for ensuring we meet our sustainability goals.
- Quality control: Ensure that all dishes served are of high quality, both in taste and presentation. Verify that cooking and handling of raw materials comply with hygiene and safety regulations.
- Menu creation: Together with the group's culinary director and other management, create seasonal menus that match the hotel's concept and guests' expectations.
- Economy and budget: Be responsible for purchasing raw materials and food-related supplies, monitor the kitchen's budget, and ensure we stay within financial limits. Work to minimize food waste and optimize costs without compromising quality.
- Guest interaction: Occasionally interact directly with guests to ensure their experience and be attentive to specific requests or dietary needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other hotel departments, such as restaurant, conference, and events, to ensure that food service is synchronized with other operations.
- Kitchen organization and structure: Ensure that the kitchen is well-organized, efficient, and complies with applicable safety and health regulations. Be responsible for cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and facilities.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a chef, with 2–3 years in a leadership position as head chef or sous chef, preferably from the hotel or restaurant industry.
- Skills: Good knowledge of à la carte and catering. Experience in leading a team and creating a positive work environment.
- Education: Relevant education in gastronomy, e.g., chef training or other culinary background.
- Creativity: Ability to create and develop menus, both traditional and modern, that meet guests' various needs and preferences.
- Language: Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Personal qualities: You are an engaged and solution-oriented leader who thrives in a dynamic work environment. You have strong organizational skills and an eye for detail. You are a team player and have a passion for creating a fantastic dining experience for our guests.
