We are a non-profit organization for people with mental health issues.

In this discussion group, individuals diagnosed with Psychotic Syndromes, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorders, or Schizoaffective Disorders meet.

The idea is to provide an opportunity to meet others and talk about thoughts and feelings, sharing experiences and insights.

The group meets one evening a week around 6-8 PM at Folkets Hus in Rågsved or Bagarmossen, a total of 6 sessions during the spring, starting in April. It may continue in the fall.

Important qualities include the ability to easily establish contact and initiate conversations. You will agree with the participants on the format, e.g., whether to have themes/topics to discuss for each meeting. The format of the group can vary, with one option being talking rounds where participants take turns speaking with a talking stick that circulates until the topic is exhausted.

Important roles as a leader, in addition to creating contact and conversation, include encouraging storytelling using techniques such as active listening, direct encouragement, and reflections (See Rautalinko - Conversation Skills), as well as contributing to affirming when needed, so that the storyteller feels their story is received.

There will be supervision available.

Desirable qualifications include knowledge in developmental psychology, attachment theory, developmental psychopathology, etc.

It is advantageous if you have a higher education with a focus on caregiving, such as a doctor, priest, nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social worker, psychologist, psychotherapist, behavioral scientist, teacher, or other qualifications such as mental health worker, housing supporter, leisure leader, etc.

Experience of personal mental health issues is acceptable if it is in the past and you have recovered.

Hourly compensation.
