After School Teacher at Robinson Valsjön

With knowledge, healthy habits, and sound values, children and students are prepared for the encounter with the larger world, a world that is becoming more interconnected, digitalized, and that functions in harmony with nature. Through evidence-based pedagogy, a diversity of offerings, and a well-organized operation, Tellusskolan aims to contribute to the well-being, knowledge, and collaboration skills of the next generation.

About the Workplace

Robinson Valsjön started with preschool class and grade 1 in the autumn of 2022. The school will grow organically with new students in preschool class each year to a F-6 school with 160 students. In the autumn, we will start a new preschool class, which means we will then have grades F-4.

The school is located in a newly built property situated in the picturesque area around Valsjön. Our preschool, Tellusbarn Valsjön, is also located in the premises.

Robinson's profile includes three parts: Outdoor Pedagogy, Experience-Based Learning, and Robinson's Roots/Values Work.

Our fundamental idea is that learning becomes long-lasting if it is based on an experience. Therefore, we work with experience-based learning where many experiences take place in and with the help of nature. We want the children at our school to get to know nature and thus also learn to appreciate it; therefore, we use outdoor life as a working tool. It is important for us that students feel that school is enjoyable and meaningful. We therefore work in subject-integrated projects where all subjects are presented in a meaningful context. This method facilitates students' ability to maintain and develop their desire to learn, making learning feel more real.

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for someone who wants to be part of our community and contribute to the continued development of our after-school program. As a teacher in the after-school program, you will work at the school in the morning and run the after-school program together with colleagues after school hours.

The after-school program works structured with the central content and the skills that students should be given the opportunity to develop. There is collegial learning and exchange during planning and analysis of results. Since part of our profile is outdoor pedagogy, it is important that you enjoy working outdoors; we see the outdoor environment as an extra classroom and utilize the outdoor space extensively in the after-school program.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed teacher in the after-school program who wants to contribute to the continued development of our operations. It is advantageous if you have several years of experience working in after-school programs.

You have a secure and clear leadership style, take initiative, and create engaging and meaningful learning situations for students – both during school hours and in the after-school program. Experience working with break activities and outdoor pedagogy is a plus.

As we are in a growing phase, it may be relevant to recruit two new educators. Do you have a colleague you enjoy working with? Feel free to apply together!

We are looking for someone who builds relationships and creates trusting collaborations with both students, colleagues, and guardians.

If you also have qualifications in practical-aesthetic subjects, we see that as an advantage. Subjects we particularly value this year are crafts, art, and sports and health.

Do not hesitate to submit your application! Selection and interviews are ongoing.

The position is planned to start at the beginning of the autumn term in August 2025, but it may be filled before the application period has ended.

As an organization, we achieve our goals by:

  • Having an open and respectful communication climate with direct communication.
  • Zero tolerance for all forms of abusive treatment, whether it concerns adults or children.
  • Working to ensure that all children, parents, and staff take responsibility for the school.

Robinson's view of students is that:

  • Children are good
  • Children are different
  • Children are needs-driven and
  • Children want to develop should be the basis for the decisions made.

Warm welcome with your application!
