About Smålandshamnar AB

Smålandshamnar operates port activities in Oskarshamn and Västervik, such as unloading and loading of vessels, terminal operations, and other logistical solutions. The ports are geographically and strategically well-placed in the Baltic Sea region and have the capacity to receive and handle the largest vessels. Smålandshamnar AB has a turnover of 150 million and handles approximately 1.5 million tons of goods with 90 employees.

About the role

As Technical Manager with us, you will have overall responsibility for our fixed and movable assets, including quays, warehouses, vehicles, maritime safety devices, and oil ports. You will be part of the management team and report directly to the CEO. The role is both strategic and operational, where you are responsible for planning, leading, and following up on technical investments, maintenance, and development projects.

You will lead a small unit with personnel responsibility for a property manager and a workshop manager (with four workshop mechanics) – which means you are a manager of managers. Your work will be closely coordinated with finance, procurement, and other external actors such as authorities, suppliers, and construction contractors.

Your main tasks:

• Overall technical responsibility for facilities in Oskarshamn and Västervik
• Drive and follow up on technical investment projects and maintenance plans
• Manage purchases and public procurements
• Be the system owner for our digital maintenance system (IDUS)
• Be responsible for the company's insurances
• Participate in the management team, safety committee, and development forum
• Be responsible for budget and follow-up within the technical area
• Be the contact person for authorities and drive permit processes

You are a confident and unpretentious leader with good technical understanding and experience in project management and finance. Coming from a different industry than ports is not a barrier. We seek new perspectives and value an innovative person who can contribute ideas and improvement suggestions.

We expect you to have:

Essential requirements:

• Relevant academic education in e.g., engineering, industry, or economics – or equivalent work experience
• At least 5 years of experience in operations, maintenance, or facility development
• Experience in driving technical projects and having project budget responsibility
• Fluent Swedish in speech and writing
• Good English
• Driver's license (B)
• Good computer skills and technical understanding
• Good economic understanding, especially related to project economics

It is advantageous if you also have experience in negotiations and public procurements, but it is not a requirement.
