Do you want to help develop Enköping into a sustainable and attractive municipality? At the Environmental and Community Building Administration, you will work with the municipality's physical planning and development while making a difference through regulatory activities and advice in areas such as environment, construction, food safety, infection control, and much more. With us, strategic thinking is combined with operational work - all to create a safe and sustainable environment for today's and tomorrow's residents of Enköping.
Within the Environmental and Community Building Administration, there is a department for strategic planning responsible for the municipality's overall and strategic planning, detailed planning, and strategic work in water, biodiversity, and ecosystems.
The department currently has 17 employees (including planning architects, municipal ecologists, statisticians, and urban planners) and as our current water strategist is leaving, we need to recruit for this important strategic position.
Enköping Municipality values health and offers a wellness allowance of 2000 SEK per year.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The municipality actively works with strategic water issues related to the EU Water Directive. The water work is based on our water plan, which outlines measures to achieve national water quality goals.
Your tasks will include developing, updating, and following up on strategic documents in the water area (such as the water plan, water service plan, and stormwater plan). The position also includes driving your own projects in collaboration with our water advisor and various stakeholders. Projects are often externally funded. The role also includes environmental monitoring, primarily focused on eutrophication.
The work is carried out in various groups and networks internally or with external partners. You will be responsible for the municipality's internal organization for water issues, which is a collaboration between three administrations at both political and management levels.
You will also have an important internal advisory role within your area of expertise in detailed planning and project implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a university degree focused on water. You should have experience working in a politically governed organization, such as in municipal or state administration, preferably within the field of urban planning.
You have the ability to systematically and pedagogically drive various tasks as a leader of a workgroup. We value that you are structured, socially competent, and enjoy working outwardly with many different stakeholders. You can express yourself easily in both speech and writing.
You should also have experience in applying for and reporting on externally funded project grants (such as LOVA, LONA) and be familiar with working in GIS.
It is advantageous if you have experience from similar tasks as a strategist or coordinator, and limnological education is particularly meritorious. Experience in working with environmental quality standards/status classification and permit applications is also valuable.
We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Personal Qualities
- You see water issues as part of succeeding in the municipality's overall community building. You are solution-oriented and see connections from both short- and long-term perspectives.
- You have strategic thinking and the ability to take initiative and drive development. You are not afraid to take responsibility and have a proactive approach to improving processes and working methods.
- You have a systematic working method and ensure that work is carried out with quality, within deadlines, and follow up on results.
- You are a good communicator who can convey complex information understandably tailored to the target audience. You enjoy collaborating with others and find it easy to build good relationships.
- You are flexible and unpretentious, adapting to changing conditions. You find it fun and stimulating to contribute your expertise at multiple levels within the administration.
