We are now looking for nature hosts for Kosterhavet this summer!

Kosterhavet National Park is managed by an administrative office, which is part of the Nature Department at the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland. We are also responsible for the management and care of nature reserves, Koster Islands, Saltö, Nord Långö, Västra Rossö, and Väderöarna, as well as the important information activities. In the nature center Kosterhavet, the main entrance to the national park, nature guidance is conducted with tours both indoors and outdoors. During the peak season, from June to August, we need to strengthen the operations with seasonal nature hosts.

Job Responsibilities

The assignment as a nature host extends over the summer season, starting in mid-June or early July and continuing into August. You will work according to a fixed schedule where weekend work is included. The average working time over the period corresponds to about 80-85% of full-time.

An important part of the work as a nature host is hospitality. Visitors should feel welcome and seen. They should gain increased knowledge about Kosterhavet National Park and be inspired to explore the nature center and surrounding nature. As a host, you will work in a team with 5 colleagues. Part of the time will be spent outdoors where you will guide children and adults in nature.

Main job responsibilities include:

• Be a good host for the nature center and Kosterhavet National Park
• Provide qualified nature guidance to the public.
• Provide tourist information about the Koster destination and surrounding areas.
• Sales from the nature center's shop.
• Simple administrative tasks.
• Light maintenance of the nature center, such as aquariums, emptying trash, and daily oversight of exhibitions and restrooms.

We are always developing our operations, and you need to be open to the possibility that your tasks may change.

Work location: Koster

Please note that the County Administrative Board cannot provide accommodation during the work period. The Koster Islands have a low supply of summer housing at affordable prices. You must be able to catch boats from Strömstad or have accommodation on Koster to reach the workplace.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Ongoing or completed education in biology, ecology, marine biology, or similar.
• Fluent in Swedish and English

Desirable

• Experience in conducting tours in Swedish and English
• Good knowledge in one or more areas of ecology and species identification in the sea, on land, and freshwater, oceanography, or geology.
• Understanding of the Norwegian language
• Previous employment at Kosterhavet Nature Center or another nature center in Sweden.
• Certified nature guide
