The Education Unit is one of ten units within the university's central administration. Approximately 140 people work at the unit. The unit's mission includes providing support to students and prospective students before, during, and after their studies through guidance, admissions, examinations, and graduation. The Education Unit also provides support and services to institutions and faculties in managing educational administrative issues. We manage and develop system support for study administration.

We are now looking for someone who wants to work extra as an exam invigilator! You will belong to the examination section, which currently consists of administrators and exam invigilators working in the university's common examination rooms. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of exam invigilator, you are responsible for ensuring that students taking exams in the University of Gothenburg's common examination rooms can do so in a legally secure manner. You ensure that the exam can start and be submitted correctly (either digitally or on paper), check that the student is registered for the respective exam and has valid identification. The role of the exam invigilator also includes working to detect any misleading behavior and reporting such cases further.

In the role of exam invigilator, you will meet many students, so a correct and professional approach is important. It is self-evident for you to treat all students with respect, and at the University of Gothenburg, we have a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of discrimination and harassment.

QUALIFICATIONS

As an exam invigilator, you must be proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. It is highly meritorious if you have experience as an exam invigilator at a university or college or similar tasks. It is also advantageous if you are familiar with the regulations for examinations at the University of Gothenburg as well as the Discrimination Act.

In the role of exam invigilator, you will always work in a team, which requires good collaboration skills. In addition, we are looking for someone who is meticulous, flexible, and can handle a sometimes high workload. As a person, you are clear and approach students in a professional manner. You are self-assured and can also handle confrontations that may arise in connection with the examination situation. You are observant and must be prepared to intervene in any suspected rule violations to ensure the quality of the operation.

Today, the majority of exams are conducted digitally in the examination room (about 90%), while paper exams constitute a smaller share. The digital exams are conducted in a digital system that you, as an exam invigilator, will also work in. Therefore, it is a prerequisite that you are comfortable working in various digital systems and can quickly adapt to new technology and programs and integrate this into your work. At the University of Gothenburg, work is primarily conducted in a Windows environment, but many students use Mac computers.

During digital room examinations, you, as an exam invigilator, are responsible for providing light IT support to students. This means that you need to be able to manage connections to the wireless network, installation and updates of specific programs, and have knowledge of operating systems. IT support also involves helping students manage the system in which the digital exams are written.

As an exam invigilator with us, you cannot be a student at the University of Gothenburg or at another college/university.

EMPLOYMENT

The employment is temporary but lasts until at least 2025-12-31, with placement at the examination section of the Education Unit. Start date is 2025-04-25 or according to agreement. Your official job title at the university will be assistant.

The employment is intermittent, meaning you work on an hourly basis where the number of hours per month varies according to the needs of the operation, and an hourly wage is paid. Exams are conducted almost daily, including Saturdays and Sundays, as well as some evenings. The examination activity has intensive periods every fifth week during the semester. During these intensive weeks, there is a greater need for exam invigilators. The work as an exam invigilator may be possible to combine with other part-time work.
