We are looking for a Discipline Lead Mechanical for a project in Stockholm.

This is a consulting assignment.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which requires significant flexibility and teamwork skills.

The Assignment

As the Engineering Discipline Lead Mechanical, you will oversee all mechanical engineering aspects of the client's BECCS project. You will ensure that the project's specifications and requirements are met and manage the integration with other disciplines. In this role, you will provide technical guidance and lead a team of engineers to ensure a successful technical delivery of the BECCS project. You will also work closely with suppliers and contractors to support the overall goals of the BECCS project by ensuring quality and consistency in the delivery of mechanical design.

Responsibilities

• Lead all mechanical engineering aspects of the BECCS project, ensuring that project specifications are followed and managing integration with other disciplines.
• Ensure that all mechanical engineering aspects of the BECCS project are delivered efficiently, meeting technical requirements and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure that designs and processes meet regulatory and project requirements.
• Review and approve technical documents related to mechanical engineering, such as modeling of static and rotating equipment, equipment sizing, design of pressure vessels and tanks, HVAC systems, together with the team of mechanical engineers. Oversee that comments from reviews are implemented by contractors or designers.
• Manage interfaces with other disciplines, functions, and contractors to ensure cohesive project execution and facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
• When necessary, lead technical investigations related to mechanical systems, static and rotating equipment, HVAC in collaboration with other functions on the design team and contractors.
• Manage input from other functions such as HSE, operations, and maintenance to achieve optimal technical solutions and meet the technical goals of the BECCS project.
• Provide leadership and support to the mechanical engineering team, including resource allocation between work packages to ensure project goals are met.
• Oversee the performance of design and engineering contractors and subcontractors, ensuring they meet project specifications and standards.
• Engage with contractors and other stakeholders to define overall technical specifications and design criteria, ensuring that clear deliverables and standards are communicated and met throughout the BECCS project.
• Report to the Engineering Lead on progress, challenges, and technical issues, providing regular updates on the status of mechanical engineering deliveries and escalating significant risks or issues.
• Identify and manage risks related to mechanical engineering aspects of the BECCS project, and develop and implement action plans to address potential issues.
• Promote a collaborative and innovative work environment and encourage a culture of safety, quality, and excellence.

Requirements (Note: Mandatory) Extensive experience in mechanical engineering (10+ years), preferably with a focus on large-scale projects in the energy, oil, gas, or related process industries. Experience in CCS project design is advantageous. Experience collaborating with international suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams. Strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering. Ability to provide technical guidance to ensure that designs and processes meet regulatory and project requirements. Deep understanding of mechanical engineering, methods, and practices. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards, both globally and in Sweden. Strong understanding of mechanical equipment modeling, equipment sizing, tank design, and review of equipment datasheets. Deep understanding of mechanical systems, static and rotating equipment, HVAC, and general mechanical engineering. Extensive knowledge in rotating or static equipment is highly valued, with expertise in both areas being a plus. Proven ability to manage risks, drive quality control, and lead technical design reviews while maintaining project timelines and budgets. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Good command of English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Swedish is advantageous but not a requirement. Ability to manage interfaces with other disciplines and contractors. Ability to meet deliverables in pressured environments while maintaining a focus on quality and results.
