Foster Care Inspector at Farsta District Administration
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Our part of the city is located between the lakes Drevviken and Magelungen. Here, the Farsta District Administration employs 1,400 dedicated staff who now need a new colleague. With us, you have close access to both subway and commuter trains, shops, and restaurants. And close to a swim in the summer and long-distance skating in the winter.
Workplace Description
The Farsta District Administration offers an attractive workplace where you are surrounded by engaged, helpful, and knowledgeable colleagues.
In the group, there is a shared sense of responsibility and a strong commitment to the care and support that foster children need.
The Department of Individual and Family Care works with various forms of support and services for residents. Since January 1, 2025, the department has a new organization and is divided into four areas: Promotion and Prevention, Children and Youth, Adults, and Providers within Social Psychiatry and Disabilities. Within the Children and Youth area, there are units for receiving children and youth, a unit for children, and a unit for youth and family care.
In family care, we currently have nine positions, of which seven employees work full-time in family care, one works with contact activities, and two employees work part-time with intensified investigations at home.
Job Description
As a Foster Care Inspector in Farsta, you will work in certain cases as the child's designated social worker. In this role, you are responsible for following up on the care of the placed child through continuous meetings with the child and contact with the biological parents. You also make assessments regarding visitation and identify needs for other interventions that may be relevant. You ensure that placed children have their needs and rights met.
In other cases, you will be responsible for the foster home. In this role, you provide ongoing support and guidance to the foster homes that have ongoing assignments. You are also responsible for issues regarding compensation and contracts with foster homes.
Another task within family care is to recruit and assess foster homes. For this task, you must have completed or be undergoing appropriate training.
The work involves travel, primarily within the Stockholm area but also travel within the country.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work and experience working within one of the areas of social services.
You have a good ability to plan and structure your work. You can express yourself well in both speech and writing, as ongoing case management and documentation are part of the job.
As a Foster Care Inspector, you need to be a secure and stable person. Since the work sometimes involves meeting people in crisis or with complex life situations, it is important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and meet people in a respectful manner. You also need to have the ability to build good relationships with children, youth, and their families, as well as all parties you collaborate with.
Experience in foster care is an advantage.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Selection will take place continuously during the application period.
Warm welcome with your application!
Other
You will be offered flexible working hours and wellness benefits. The city's employees have discounted fees at several training and wellness facilities, many of which are located in the district. The workplace is centrally located in bright premises in Farsta Center, close to the subway, restaurants, and a large range of shops.
The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's skills and thus counteracting discrimination.
To work for the City of Stockholm with children, youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities, including work in their homes, you must provide an extract from the criminal record. The extract should not be older than six months from the date of issue.
