ST Dentist Position at Neuro Head and Neck Center

Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and ensure that research and innovation yield results.

At the Neuro Head and Neck Center (NHHC), approximately 650 people currently work on various aspects of investigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of diseases and injuries affecting the nervous system, brain, ears, nose, throat, and oral surgery. The center is a regional clinic providing highly specialized care for patients from the entire northern healthcare area, and it also conducts research, education, and development.

The Oral Surgery department regularly collaborates with other medical specialties in connection with surgeries for head and neck tumors, as well as for cleft lip, jaw, and palate, and complicated facial fractures/neurocranial injuries. We perform all types of surgical procedures and investigations that belong to the oral surgical care panorama. For inpatient care, we have beds in the Ear, Nose, Throat, and Oral Surgery department where we have our own care responsibility. Oral Surgery also has a very close collaboration with other dental specialties located in close proximity to the clinic. Our referrers are found within both general and private dental care.

We have regular therapy discussions and exchanges with other oral surgery clinics within the northern region. In collaboration with the Department of Dentistry at the Medical Faculty, we conduct basic education for dental students as well as further education for dental nurses in the subject. Clinical supervision is included as a mandatory part of the clinical service for all staff. The department has been conducting research in reconstructive oral surgery for many years.

The development and quality work primarily focuses on digital treatment planning for implant surgery, orthognathic surgery, and reconstructive surgery. We have three specialists in oral surgery, including one university lecturer, one assistant lecturer/ST dentist, two additional ST dentists, one general dentist, nine dental nurses, one nurse, one dental assistant, and one medical secretary. We staff the oral surgery on-call service around the clock, every day of the week throughout the year.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

To treat patients within the clinical areas included in the oral surgery specialty under supervision.

To participate in the clinic's assignments such as multidisciplinary therapy planning, clinical supervision, theoretical teaching, and on-call duties.

In addition to clinical work, an interest in and commitment to the clinic's education and development work is also required.

The service includes acquiring theoretical knowledge through courses, seminars, and additional training.

The service is carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations from the National Board of Health and Welfare for dentists' specialization training HSLF-FS 2017:77.

As an ST dentist with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes employees and patients feel secure.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a Swedish dental license issued by the National Board of Health and Welfare and at least two years of service (calculated to full-time) preferably longer, in general dentistry with experience in pediatric and adult dentistry. We require good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form, at least level C1. You have a strong commitment to the subject, and it is advantageous if you have experience in the specialty.

We apply the SKR merit evaluation system when assessing your application. Merit Evaluation (https://sttandlakare.se/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Meritvardering-av-tandlakare-vid-Tillsattning-av-Nationella-ST-revidering-2023.pdf)

Consideration is given to personal suitability and ability to collaborate.

After completing the ST training, the position will transition to a permanent employment as a senior dentist within Region Västerbotten, where you are expected to remain for at least 24 months after obtaining your specialist exam.
