At SSC, we enable our customers to make better use of space. Through the efforts of our approximately 700 employees around the world, we provide specialized expertise in the design, testing, launch, and operation of space and air systems. The Scientific Services department develops rocket and balloon systems, including experimental equipment for microgravity research. We also conduct launches of rockets and balloons from Esrange Space Center.

YOUR ROLE

We can offer you an exciting job as a Ground Safety Engineer in our Launch Team. The role primarily consists of operational activities, and you will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment during our campaigns. You will have a wide range of tasks from operational preparations to participation in rocket and balloon campaigns. You will also work on planning, maintenance, and development of systems and equipment required for our launches. In this role, you will be trained to take responsibility for ground safety during our rocket and balloon campaigns.

What we are looking for:

  • Degree in engineering or related fields / equivalent work experience in a related environment
  • You demonstrate understanding and have the ability to conduct safe operations.
  • Your proficiency in both Swedish and English is essential, as we operate in a global environment with customers from various parts of the world.
  • Experience in safety and risk assessment
  • A solution-oriented attitude
  • Availability to work flexible hours during campaigns

LOCATION

This is a permanent position with 40h/week located at Esrange Space Center outside Kiruna, and remote work can only occur in exceptional cases. As part of our team, you will participate in rocket and balloon campaigns scheduled outside regular working hours. Work at different locations may also occur during campaigns.
