Our Operations

At our pediatric anesthesia and pediatric surgery department, we receive children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 who need anesthesia and surgery. This can involve anything from premature infants to teenagers. Our operations include procedures in urology, orthopedics, hand surgery, general surgery, robotic surgery, and neonatal surgery, where each operation can be crucial for the child's future.

It is important for us that both children and their relatives feel safe throughout the process – from the moment they arrive, during the surgery, until they are ready to go home. Your role as a surgical nurse is to ensure that everything runs smoothly and safely for both the patients and their loved ones.

Your Mission

As a surgical nurse with us, you will work at the heart of the operating room and be part of the team that stands by the children's side during their surgeries – from large, complex procedures to smaller routine operations – always with the child's safety in focus. We conduct emergency operations, so our surgical program is a living document and changes throughout the day. We also receive children from oncology, where you will follow the children multiple times during their treatment period.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse with specialized training in surgical nursing. Previous experience in pediatric care is a plus but not a requirement. The most important thing is your willingness to work with children and adolescents and your ability to collaborate in a team. You are someone who takes initiative, sees the whole picture, and wants to contribute to us all doing our utmost for the children we meet.

We Offer

We offer you a permanent position as a surgical nurse with a start date according to agreement. We work Monday to Friday with on-call duty approximately every 8th weekend. We are a small department with close proximity to everything and everyone. In our department, we believe in continuous development. Therefore, you will have the opportunity for professional development and access to national and international networks. Your introduction will be personally tailored to give you the best possible start. We care about your well-being both in your professional role and personally. Therefore, we also offer access to our wellness facility and flexible working hours.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/)).

Region Uppsala values the qualities that gender balance and diversity bring to the organization. We therefore welcome applicants of all genders and with different backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.

Region Uppsala places all permanent staff based on the needs of total defense. This means that for the individual employee, there are no obligations in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.

Background checks against suspicion and criminal records will be conducted regarding all individuals that the employer intends to hire or engage for patient-related work, based on their potential work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and adolescents, or compulsory care of substance abusers, areas that are covered by optional record extracts. This applies to all who will work closely with patients even if the tasks are not primarily intended to involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.

This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala's efforts. We therefore kindly ask recruitment companies and advertisement sellers not to call.
