Region Uppsala places all permanent staff based on the needs of total defense. This means that for the individual employee there are no obligations in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.

Background checks against suspicion and criminal records will be conducted for all individuals that the employer intends to hire or engage for patient-related work based on the possibility that they may work in psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and adolescents, or compulsory care of substance abusers, areas that are subject to optional record extracts.
