Job Description

As a university lecturer, your main task is teaching. We are therefore looking for someone with an interest and commitment to learning and developing education. The work is independent and varied and takes place in a creative and inspiring environment filled with competence and curiosity. It is also a team effort where we work together to achieve high quality in education and research to improve people's health.

The position includes teaching, administering, and developing courses at undergraduate and advanced levels in medical science, primarily in psychiatry and general pathology, as well as teaching in simulation environments within healthcare technology. Course responsibility and examiner assignments are also included in the tasks and will be offered gradually in relation to pedagogical competence. In addition to being part of the teaching team for medical courses within the nursing program and physiotherapy program, responsibility for and participation in health science courses within the nursing program as well as independent courses and programs at an advanced level in the field may also be relevant.

The nursing education at MDU is conducted in three locations: Västerås, Eskilstuna, and Nyköping, which means that meetings and some teaching will take place at all locations. Subject and higher education pedagogical competence development occurs continuously, and the position includes actively participating in the development of quality improvement work for courses and programs. Since collaboration is an integral part of the university's research and education mission, you as a university lecturer will also actively contribute to the university's development work.

Eligibility Requirements

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and has a master's degree or equivalent competence.

The pedagogical skill must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.

To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those who are employed but lack higher education pedagogical training will be offered to undergo such training within two and a half years of employment. The higher education pedagogical training at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

For this position, the following eligibility requirements apply, in addition to those established in the Employment Regulations at MDU:

• Specialist nursing degree with a focus on psychiatric care. Good oral and written communication skills in Swedish at the level required to perform regular tasks in teaching and administration, as well as good ability to communicate in English, are also required.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria will include the degree of skill required for the position, as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the tasks well.

In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, special emphasis will be placed on the following for this position:

• Teaching experience from nursing education and courses in psychiatric care.
• Experience of clinical service in health care within a psychiatric context and higher education courses relevant to the position.
• Computer skills and experience working with digital tools.
