Job Responsibilities

As a university lecturer, your main responsibilities will be teaching. Collaboration is an integral part of the university's research and education mission, and as a university lecturer, you will actively contribute to the university's development work. Your tasks will also include general administration and professional development, as well as participating in the daily operations of the subject and academy.

In your role as a university lecturer, you will participate in theoretical teaching in health science with a focus on nursing, as well as practical exercises within the nursing program.

Your position will also include actively collaborating with healthcare organizations and working as a clinical lecturer in elderly care. Being a clinical lecturer means supporting the pedagogical work of supervisors with students and facilitating students' learning to integrate theory and practice, as well as leading examinations and assessments in connection with workplace-based education.

The nursing program is conducted at three campuses: Eskilstuna, Nyköping, and Västerås. Teaching may take place at all campuses, but primarily in Västerås.

Eligibility Requirements

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and holds a master's degree or equivalent competence.

The pedagogical skill must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed.

To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogical training or equivalent knowledge is required. Those who are hired but lack higher education pedagogical training will be offered to undergo such training during their employment within two and a half years. The higher education pedagogical training at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

For this position, the following eligibility requirements apply in addition to those established in the Employment Regulations at MDU.

• It is required that you are a licensed nurse.
• You must have good oral and written communication skills in Swedish at the level required to perform regular tasks within teaching and administration.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria will include the degree of skill required for the position, as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the tasks well.

In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, special emphasis will be placed on the following for this position.

• It is highly meritorious for the position to have experience in teaching at the university level and working as a clinical lecturer within the nursing program.
• Furthermore, it is highly meritorious to have experience from clinical practice, experience working with primary supervisors/mentors for nursing students, and experience in collaboration.
• In a comprehensive assessment of suitability, personal abilities will also be considered. All employees at MDU are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the operations and their own tasks, and contribute to a good working environment.

• Has good communication skills
