About the job

Meal Service is responsible for the food in preschools, schools, and kitchens within elderly care operated by the municipality.

Meal Service has about 160 employees distributed across approximately 55 kitchens.

In each preparation kitchen, chefs and meal assistants work. The number of portions prepared varies between 20 and 2500 per day.

Meal Service strives to prepare as much food as possible from scratch, and our primary goal is for the food to taste good and be nutritious. Another important task is to establish good eating habits and to provide an opportunity for relaxation during meals.

Lane Ryr School is a K-6 school with about 140 students on the outskirts of Uddevalla. In the kitchen, you will work alongside a meal assistant. The kitchen delivers food to a nearby preschool with about 70 children, and in the serving kitchen, a meal assistant works. The meal assistant from the preschool assists in the kitchen during parts of the day.

We are looking for you

Who has a strong commitment to well-prepared and healthy food. You are creative in everything related to food/meals and are open to new ideas. A big plus is if you have a positive drive to take on new challenges within the profession. You work independently and are goal and results-oriented. We also want you to have good collaboration skills, be proactive, and service-oriented.

Job responsibilities

The position as a chef includes:

• Preparing good and nutritious food that meets the guests' needs
• Close collaboration with chefs in the area
• Contributing to business development
• Establishing good cooperation with the school's other staff and students
• Purchasing according to agreements
• Maintaining budget and participating in budget and follow-up work
• Participating in workplace environment work

Requirements

We are looking for you with a high school education in large-scale catering or restaurant and at least 3 years of experience in the profession. You have good knowledge of special diets, food hygiene, nutrition, and self-control. It is required that you have good computer skills, good knowledge of budget follow-up, and that you master the Swedish language in speech and writing.

Meritorious

It is meritorious if you have experience with nutrition data systems and from a service profession or a profession with a lot of customer contact.
