We are looking for someone interested in a varied job with 50% working hours in our ALMA team and 50% in the acute geriatric department.

About Us

We offer you a varied and diverse job where we actively work for the multi-ill elderly patient. Many of those we meet have not just one illness but often several that we need to consider and treat from a holistic perspective. This means that the patient meets many different professionals; the team consists of doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and social workers. With us, we get to know the patients, and our goal is to build a good relationship, as we work person-centered.

We conduct acute geriatric inpatient care with direct admission around the clock via the emergency department. We also have a specialist clinic for the investigation of memory problems and a mobile ALMA team. The department has 12 beds.

The ALMA team is a mobile acute geriatric team tasked with reducing admissions and readmissions to the hospital and being there for our elderly patients, who often feel better receiving care in their homes. We operate from Nyköping Hospital and serve the municipalities of Nyköping and Oxelösund. We receive patients from ambulances, primary care, and home care to stabilize patients who have deteriorated and are stable enough to remain at home. We also follow up on patients from the emergency department who do not need admission but require close medical follow-up to be able to go home, and we follow up on patients from departments at Nyköping Hospital to reduce hospital time and minimize the risk of readmissions.

The geriatric department has adopted new working methods and improvements where our staff have been proactive, including actively working with safe and secure discharges and preventing care injuries among our elderly patients. Openness to change is important to us, and we believe you enjoy being part of a wonderful team where laughter and care are always present. We also believe you are a person who can empathetically understand the situation of the patient and their relatives.

The department is Silvia certified in dementia care.

Your Responsibilities

Nurses in the ALMA team work during the day, and as a nurse in the acute geriatric department, you will work around the clock, including evenings and some weekend shifts.

In the ALMA team, nurses and doctors work closely together, but as a nurse, you will also make home visits alone and need to feel secure in your professional role. You will make assessments, perform checks, EKGs, take samples, manage medications, administer medications intravenously, set up IVs, etc. An important part of the job is to see the whole picture of the patient, and therefore collaboration with other care providers such as home care, social services, and home help is essential to make it as safe and good as possible for the patient. As a nurse in the Acute Geriatric Department, your tasks will include medication administration, nursing care, central lines, wound dressings, blood transfusions, and supervising students. Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse. We see that you have a special interest in geriatric patients and understand the importance of a holistic perspective. You have at least a few years of experience as a nurse and are confident in your professional role. A B driver's license is a requirement. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
