The Psychiatric Clinic in Linköping is a university clinic with many different operations. The clinic consists of outpatient and inpatient care, as well as an emergency unit and our mobile services. You will find our operations in the newly built Tinnerbäckshuset on the hospital grounds, in the garrison area, and on Repslagaregatan in the center of Linköping.

Our inpatient wards are divided based on different specialties: Psychosis, substance use disorders, and a ward where individuals with affective disorders, eating disorders, and self-harming behaviors are treated. In addition, we also have a discharge ward. As a nurse, you have the opportunity to specialize in the area you work in. There is also the possibility to rotate between the different units. Lengths of stay vary, which means that the work consists of everything from emergency care to planned admissions. Patients primarily have psychiatric issues, but somatic comorbidity is common, which makes medical technical procedures a part of daily work.

Starting from the spring semester of 2023, we are offering for the first time the opportunity to take the independent university course “Nursing in Psychiatric Care” during working hours through Luleå University. The course, which is worth 7.5 credits, spans a semester at 25 percent and is aimed at licensed nurses who want to deepen their knowledge in psychiatric nursing.

As a new employee, you will receive a personalized introduction and mentorship from an experienced nurse for as long as needed. We offer present leadership, and you will have support from your immediate supervisor who is easily accessible within each department.

As a nurse, there are many opportunities to develop and advance your career within the clinic. As an employee, you are offered both internal and external training. For example, all nurses attend a 4-day training in communication and have the opportunity to receive paid further education to become a specialist nurse in psychiatry through the employer, with an additional salary increase of 4,000 SEK after completing the training.

Job Description

As a nurse, you have a leading role on the ward. In addition to daily routines/tasks such as medication distribution, rounds, reporting, and social planning, a large part of the job involves nursing work together with the patients. The work is creative, we work closely with the patient and base our approach on their resources and skills. Our toolbox is constantly being filled with new tools. We use techniques, methods, approaches, measures, and actions grounded in various areas of expertise, such as psychology, psychotherapy, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.

Our nurses want to develop, and the clinic has therefore invested in strengthening nursing competence. In recent years, we have allowed our nurses to take responsibility and steer the development of nursing and work to ensure that the latest research is understandable and applicable in our clinical everyday life. To continually develop both in everyday life and in the long term, we have several forums for reflection, including reflection meetings, supervision, and daily debriefing after shifts.

For the past year, we have been implementing a recovery-oriented approach, and we are already seeing how care has shifted from a more traditional approach to being driven by an increasingly flexible and person-centered care where the patient's experience and needs are always our starting point. This, in turn, makes everyday work more meaningful and developmental. We work in a safe and permissive environment where both staff and patients have come closer to each other.

About You

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Experience in psychiatric care and/or a specialist nursing degree is considered an asset, but do not hesitate to apply even if you lack psychiatric experience. With curiosity and a desire to do the best for the patient, you will develop and learn together with us!

You are driven by and value working person-centered, are flexible, and enjoy working creatively in nursing. You want to work where your personal qualities and resources are utilized.
