Internship in International Strategy and Sustainability

Jönköping Municipality is a large employer with hundreds of different job roles. We are growing in line with the city's development, with more residents, more housing, and a wider range of services. We are always on the lookout for new talent - employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences, united by the common drive to create a better city to visit, live, work, and reside in.

Are you studying and looking for an interesting and exciting internship? Do you have a particular interest in the municipal and public sector and want to understand international issues from that perspective? Then we have an internship opportunity for you!

About the Internship

As an intern with us, you will work with our international strategist, but you will also be part of the sustainability unit.

You will participate in the daily work of internationalization, which includes monitoring various authorities responsible for EU funding and other external financing. You will contribute to various projects and initiatives within internationalization and also assist in various administrative tasks within the unit's other areas.

How to Apply

To apply for this internship, you must be enrolled in a program with at least two years of undergraduate education, or at the master's level with a focus on social sciences. As part of your program, you must complete a work-based internship equivalent to a full semester, that is, 20 weeks. Your program should focus on political science, public administration, international relations, global studies, or EU studies. You should have a particular interest in the municipal and public sector and be interested in working with international issues from a municipal perspective. You are independent, take initiative, and are skilled in communicating, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish and English. Other language skills are also a plus.

Welcome to Us

Within the sustainability unit, we work to support our departments in implementing the municipality's sustainability program. Internationalization and external funding will be tools to support operational development in this direction. You will also gain insight into the city office's governance and management and how municipal operations function.

Good to Know

The internship period must be part of an academic study program and correspond to a full semester of full-time work, i.e., about 20 weeks, from August to December/January. The internship requires good language skills in Swedish and also very good knowledge of English. The internship is unpaid.
