Workplace Description
Lund University (https://portal.research.lu.se/sv/organisations/stem-cell-center) is a world-leading center for stem cell research with the mission to translate fundamental scientific results to the clinic to improve human health. SCC was founded in 2008 and now consists of 41 research groups conducting interdisciplinary research in the field of stem cells. The research at SCC is diverse and covers several aspects of developmental and stem cell biology. SCC leads excellent stem cell research and provides leading education for the next generation of researchers with the long-term goal of making stem cell therapies a reality. SCC is an international work environment (over 40 nationalities) and has a strong sense of community. The center itself is an umbrella organization with members employed at several different departments at the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University, several of which have links to Skåne University Hospital.
Cell and Gene Therapy Core (https://portal.research.lu.se/sv/organisations/cell-and-gene-therapy-core) is a unit within SCC, and its purpose is to provide and develop high-quality service products for both SCC and external research groups. Our products include iPSC reprogramming, CRISPR edits, CRISPR experimental design, AAV, and lentivirus production. Our goal is to facilitate research and continuously improve the quality and success of both the center and its research groups.

Responsibilities and Duties
As our laboratory assistant, you will participate in the work with all available service products for our customers. This includes (but is not limited to) standard molecular biology methods (e.g., RNA extraction, qRT-PCR), cell culture, iPSC cell culture, iPSC reprogramming, FACS, CRISPR edits, and vector production, as well as general tasks such as aliquoting and inventory.
The laboratory assistant is expected to be an active part of the standardization and development of both current and new methods and products. You should also be able to work independently and maintain a high standard of both service and documentation. The daily work involves a lot of routine laboratory work, and there is no opportunity for individual research projects.
Since the service products requested will vary, all core members need to have good service orientation, high flexibility regarding tasks, and strong collaboration skills. Both the core and SCC are international workplaces, so a high level of English in both spoken and written form is required.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position are:
- Master's degree in biology or equivalent
- Documented experience in cell culture
- Good knowledge of English in both spoken and written form
- Good communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
Research competence is the primary criterion for employment. In assessing applicants, significant weight will also be given to personal qualities. The tasks require you to have good service orientation, high flexibility regarding tasks, and strong collaboration skills.

The position is a special fixed-term employment (SÄVA) limited to 1 year full-time (100%) starting on 2025-05-01, or by agreement.
