Unit Manager for Street/Park and Waste Management

JOB DESCRIPTION

In your role as unit manager, you have overall responsibility for the unit, and you will have a team of engaged employees to assist you. You are responsible for achieving economic and production goals, leading, driving, developing, and evaluating the operations. You are responsible for personnel, operations, and working environment, and you need to stay updated on daily work while promoting the continued development of the operations.

The development, especially in the waste management area, is rapid, and you will need to lead and develop the operations in close collaboration with employees and stakeholders based on legal requirements and our customers' expectations. You will need to be well-informed and work with current environmental issues, procurements, contractual matters, and economic investigations.

As the person responsible for Street/Park and waste management operations, you will work with both operational and development issues for the municipality's waste and recycling operations, which include the collection of household waste, operation of the municipality's recycling center, and maintenance of the municipality's streets, street lighting, vehicles, and green areas, as well as traffic issues.

The operations are licensed, so the responsibilities include handling, monitoring, and reporting regarding:

Licensing issues
Dialogue with licensing authorities
Environmental reports
Waste management regulations
Waste plans, fees, statistics, etc.

The work has a strong focus on sustainability from a societal perspective, and you will lead and develop the operations in accordance with politically set goals. You must also have the ability to communicate relevant information to both citizens and other stakeholders, especially in waste management where the changes are most significant. Based on this, you will lead and motivate the staff group through Degerfors Municipality's values, the administration's committee goals, and the operational plan, as well as other guiding documents. You will report to the head of the Service Administration and be part of the administration's management group.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a relevant university education or other experience that the employer deems equivalent, as well as previous experience in waste management or municipal technical services. If you also have leadership experience at both operational and strategic levels, as well as experience working in a politically governed organization, this is advantageous.
