Your Role

Saab's testing operations are expanding in the coming years, and we are now looking for you who want to be part of the exciting testing of Gripen. The work as a flight test engineer involves a combination of theoretical and practical work. You will, among other things, develop test methodologies and test programs, prepare and lead tests at various test stations, and analyze and evaluate the results. Testing is conducted in rigs, simulators, and aircraft.

As a flight test engineer in avionics and software integration, you will be responsible for testing within one or more technical areas/systems, e.g., aircraft registration, function monitoring, central test functions, avionics computers, and communication between computer units. We have close collaboration with the development department, other areas within the flight test department, as well as suppliers and customers. The work environment is characterized by a lack of prestige and good cooperation, meaning that everyone helps where needed.

In addition to testing within the technical area, the following tasks are also included in the role:

• Lead or support troubleshooting within the technical area in case of failures in the aircraft. E.g., reading out error logs and analyzing traffic between the aircraft's various computer units at the data bus level.
• Prepare registration in the aircraft's system computer before flight passes and subsequently read out, unpack, and analyze data.
• Read out data from the aircraft's crash-protected memory.
• Be responsible for maintaining and procuring troubleshooting computers and test equipment.

Your Profile

You are a curious, positive person with good collaboration and communication skills as the role involves coordination and collaboration with several different stakeholders such as pilots, aircraft technicians, system developers, and customers. You take independent responsibility for moving work forward and easily adapt to changing conditions in everyday life.

It is an advantage if you have experience in troubleshooting as well as knowledge and ability to handle measurement and test equipment, configure computers in Windows and Linux, and troubleshoot through analysis of data traffic and error logs.

To thrive in the role, you should have a genuine interest in technology and appreciate order and structure, as all work is documented carefully. Documentation is predominantly done in English, and therefore it is necessary that you have knowledge of English and are comfortable using the language in your daily work, especially in writing.

We believe that you are a university graduate, civil engineer, or equivalent in, for example, electrical or computer engineering. Experience in testing or system development is meritorious.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
