Workplace Description
We offer up to three positions as assistants in computer science at the Department of Robotics and Semantic Systems, specifically within the group focusing on human-robot interaction and interaction with (partially) autonomous systems such as unmanned vehicles, ships, or aircraft, at the Department of Computer Science at LTH, Lund University, funded through the research project AISA (AI-powered situational awareness for man-machine interaction in shared autonomy).
AISA is a research project that investigates how an autonomous vehicle can detect conflict situations, e.g., when it suddenly can no longer follow lane markings, as they are absent or not visible to cameras and other equipment, and then communicate this problem to the human driver or operator in a way that creates situational awareness before control of the vehicle is handed over to the human. To achieve this, we work in two tracks, one of which involves using various techniques in AI, primarily machine learning, to detect conflict situations and to reason about possible solutions, while the other focuses primarily on communicating the problem and solution proposals to the user through graphical and VR (virtual reality)-based interfaces.
The project is conducted in collaboration between LTH (currently three people are involved) and researchers at Aalto University in Finland (two people). The assistant positions are located in Lund. Some tasks may be supervised by project partners remotely from Finland.
Job Responsibilities

- Assisting in the preparation and presentation of scientific results
