Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Northern City District consists of the central parts of Stockholm, Norrmalm, and Östermalm. Here we work to provide our 155,000 residents with the best services in areas such as preschool, social services, elderly care, and urban development. We welcome you who want to make a difference for the residents of Northern City.

Welcome to the Northern City Family Unit!

The area of child and family services in Northern City consists of five units; reception for children and youth, a children's group for ages 0-9, two youth groups for ages 10-19, and foster care and family law.

Our area is led by a district manager and five unit managers. The unit also employs a mentor/method supporter.

We can now offer a temporary position in one of our youth groups for ages 10-19. The group consists of nine social workers, each with different experiences and skills. In the workgroup, we support each other in our daily tasks, we have an open climate, and a great deal of job satisfaction!

Your role as a social worker

Your main tasks as a social worker are to investigate children's needs for protection and support based on BBiC, as well as to follow up on interventions according to SoL and handle cases according to LVU. In your work, you will adopt a systems-oriented perspective and evidence-based practice, and you will actively work to involve the child in the process as much as possible. You will work to find and strengthen the families' own resources to create increased protection and security for the children.

You will receive continuous support from the unit manager, method supporter, and your colleagues, and we also have regular group meetings and internal and external case supervision. The work requires good collaboration with other groups within the organization as well as with external actors such as schools, police, and BUP.

Your experience and personal abilities

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in social work
  • Good knowledge of legislation within the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act on Special Provisions for the Care of Young People (LVU)
  • Good administrative skills
  • Ability to express yourself easily in speech and writing

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Current experience of working with investigations within child and youth authority
  • Training and experience in Children's Needs in Focus (BBIC)
  • Training and experience in Signs of Safety

We are looking for someone who wants to work with the child in focus and has ideas and takes initiative on how we can create the best conditions for our families. Since the work is based on collaboration, it is important that you have good teamwork skills and want to contribute to a positive work environment and a secure workgroup. You are flexible, able to switch between working with others and working independently. You take responsibility for driving the work forward, are structured, and can plan, organize, and prioritize your work well. You need to have good communication skills both in speech and writing and can adapt to your audience.

As a person, you are stable, curious, and flexible. You want to contribute to developing our working methods and have an understanding of the task of working in a politically governed organization. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities, as we see this as an important part of both the actual client work and the employee role within the unit.

What do we offer you?

The Northern City District Administration offers you a workplace where active employee participation and clear leadership are the foundation for providing the best service to the people of Stockholm. We offer an individually tailored introduction with support from the unit's mentor. As an employee with us, you will work on exciting, varied assignments and develop. We apply winter and summer working hours as well as flexible hours. You will receive a wellness allowance of 3000 SEK per year and have the opportunity to apply for vacation exchange.

Are you curious about working with us and feel that the described position would suit you? Warmly welcome with your application!

The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
