The Community Planning Office consists of about 30 people divided into three units: Map, Planning and Building, and Environment. The map unit has 6 people working with map and GIS issues. A major advantage of the organization is the close collaboration between the units. We also collaborate with the Höglandsförbundet, which includes five municipalities. This includes a shared GIS platform.

You will work in a picturesque municipality located at the top of the Småland highlands. Nässjö is a railway hub with good communication in all directions. The municipality has just over 30,000 inhabitants, and the population curve is trending upwards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a GIS engineer in the Map Unit, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing our GIS platform. You will work on automating information flows and ensuring that our systems are efficient and up to date.

You will be an important GIS contact in various projects, where you capture requests from stakeholders and demonstrate the benefits of geographic information. Your tasks will be very varied and include creating customized web-based map products and services that meet our users' needs.

We primarily use tools and software such as FME, QGIS, CSM, and various Open Source solutions. Your technical expertise and creativity will be crucial in developing innovative solutions and improving our GIS services.

We are looking for someone who is a trained GIS engineer or has a similar education, or has equivalent professional experience. Experience with SQL is a requirement. You should be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. You have a strong IT technical background and good digital maturity.

It is advantageous if you have previous work experience in relevant areas such as 3D development. We also value experience with programming languages such as JAVA, Python, or other similar languages.
