We are looking for a resident physician in neurosurgery for a growing neurosurgical department.

At Örebro University Hospital, a broad neurosurgical service is provided within both acute and elective care. The department has developed significantly in recent years in close collaboration with other disciplines at the university hospital. The neurosurgery department includes its own intermediate care unit (NIMA) and has beds for both acute and elective care. Neuro-intensive care with multimodal monitoring is conducted in collaboration with the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care. The department will be part of a newly established Neuro Center in April, together with neurology, neurophysiology, and rehabilitation medicine, where the integration between the disciplines is evident.

Within neurosurgery at Örebro University Hospital, there is extensive research affiliated with Örebro University. The main focus is on neurotrauma, with research linked to EU and VR-funded projects, but research is also conducted on hydrocephalus and brain tumors. The clinic's working method is centered around active patient responsibility, where each specialist is responsible for their patients. The on-call line is built around specialists, aiming for consulting physicians to come into direct contact with a neurosurgery specialist. Residents work in the on-call line for educational purposes and always have an experienced specialist as backup. The residency program may include parts of training at another location. The department underwent a SPUR inspection in the fall of 2024.

Qualifications

Licensed physician. Since the department regularly receives medical students for clinical practice, experience in such activities is meritorious. We place great importance on personal suitability and good collaboration skills. You have strong commitment, a great ability to take personal responsibility, and attentiveness in collaboration with others.
