Stroke Unit - Nurses Wanted

In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.

Stroke Unit

We are looking for nurses for the stroke unit C3.

We are a care unit with ten regular beds and one overflow bed. Our focus is on acute stroke care and rehabilitation after stroke. In addition, we care for patients with neurological diseases and injuries. We share premises with the medical department and have a close collaboration, helping each other when needed.

Teamwork is central in our unit. The close-knit team consists of nursing assistants, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation assistants, doctors, as well as speech therapists, social workers, and dietitians. Each week, the unit holds a joint TEAM round where we plan and evaluate care for our rehabilitation patients. As a nurse, you work daily in a team with one to two nursing assistants and have nursing responsibility for five patients.

We are a dedicated workgroup that collaborates with a focus on person-centered care and a rehabilitative approach, with a strong desire to develop.

In the nursing group, we take joint responsibility for work methods and areas of development, supporting each other in daily tasks. Within the group, there is a broad competence and a positive collegial spirit.

We are now looking for new colleagues and are searching for you who are an engaged nurse with a desire to grow together with us. Based on interest and needs, you will be assigned an area of responsibility where you will have increased responsibility and opportunities to follow up and develop the operations.

If you are a newly graduated nurse and have received your license in the last twelve months, you will participate in the introductory year where you will develop your skills as a nurse through skill training, reflection, and group discussions with experienced nurses and other professionals. Through the introductory year, we aim to provide you as a new nurse with opportunities for clinical training, deepening, and reflection to give you the best possible conditions to enter your new profession. Our hope is that after the introductory year, you will feel secure in your professional role and see competence development as a natural part of your work.

Your Responsibilities

Based on evidence and proven experience, you will plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care together with experienced nursing assistants. You will represent nursing care in the multiprofessional team and support patients and relatives during their time in the unit. You will coordinate care in the unit and participate in the coordination for safe discharge. You will collaborate with relatives, other services, and functions both within and outside the hospital.

Your role includes supervising students and introducing new colleagues.

If you are newly graduated, the focus will be on settling into your new role, and gradually you will take on more responsibilities and participate in operational development.

Who Are You?

You who are applying are a licensed nurse. You can be newly graduated or experienced and have an interest in working with stroke and other neurological diseases. Experience in stroke and neurology is a plus.

You are open, independent, and responsible. You want to develop in your professional role and actively participate in the development of the operations. You appreciate being part of a team and collaborating closely with colleagues. The work requires your ability to plan and prioritize your tasks even in situations where you need to adapt quickly. You communicate well and are clear in both your communication and your approach. You are solution-focused and flexible by nature.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Before a hiring decision is made, a background check will be conducted through an extract from the criminal record.

Selection will take place continuously during the application period.
