Temporary Position as Psychologist in the Child and Student Health Services

In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.

Child and Student Health Services

The Child and Student Health Services is a department within the Education and Labor Administration, Region Gotland.

In the Child and Student Health Services, school doctors, school nurses, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists, speech therapists, hearing, vision, speech, and special educators work together. Our common statutory main mission is to support students' development to meet the school's knowledge and social goals.

The Child and Student Health Services is a well-functioning and driven operation that aims to provide every employee with the opportunity for personal and professional growth by offering a workplace characterized by community, responsiveness, and valuing initiative, engagement, and responsibility.

The psychology group consists of eleven psychologists led by a unit manager, who is also a psychologist. We have a shared office space in Visby. We contribute psychological expertise in preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, adapted school forms, and to individuals around the foster children within Skolfam. Our workplace is characterized by a climate where we share experiences and knowledge and collaboratively drive development within the organization. We believe in professional development and have therefore invested in both internal and external supervision as well as training initiatives for the entire psychology group.

We offer 38.75 hours/week, flexible working hours, wellness during work hours, and wellness benefits. Additionally, regular joint wellness and social activities are included within the department.

We are now looking for an employee for a temporary position lasting until 2026-08-13.

Your Responsibilities

Skolfam is a preventive initiative aimed at strengthening the academic performance of foster children. The model's fundamental principles consist of preventive work, cross-professional collaboration, and measurability. The operation is conducted in collaboration with the Individual and Family Services, social administration. We work according to the nationally developed model (skolfam.se (http://www.skolfam.se/)). Skolfam is a research-based and preventive work model where social services, schools, and foster homes collaborate with a focus on supporting academic results for children in foster care. Together with a special educator, the child's social worker, and the foster care secretary, you form a team - the Skolfam team. Together, the team maps out the conditions for the child's academic performance and continuously follows up on the child's development in school until the child graduates from primary school.

You will work based on the Skolfam manual and conduct assessments using standardized psychometric tests and evaluations, reporting these to the child, foster home, and school. Based on the results of the assessments conducted by you and the Skolfam special educator, the foundation for further work will be laid through a so-called Skolfam plan. Based on the child's individual Skolfam plan, you will participate in and lead network meetings where foster homes, social services, and schools collaborate to optimize the child's chances of eligibility for secondary education.

As some of the foster children live on the mainland, the position involves some travel with overnight stays.

Who Are You?

We are looking for a licensed psychologist. A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are required for the position.

It is advantageous if you have previously worked in schools as a school psychologist and have experience with the tasks to be performed, as well as a basic understanding of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC).

As a person, you are solution-focused, proactive, self-driven, and possess good planning skills, both at a general and individual level. You enjoy working in smaller teams, have good collaboration skills, and can, when necessary, take an operational and leadership role.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
