Company Description

Vattenfall is one of Europe’s largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat. Our main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. Within the Vattenfall Group, there are approximately 21,000 employees. We have electrified industries, delivered energy to homes, and transformed lives through innovation for over a hundred years.

About the Role

Do you want to make a real difference? Does “Working for Fossil Freedom” sound like a signature you want in your email? Do you have experience in IT, are a project manager, and are interested in digitizing Sweden's critical infrastructure? Then the Asset IT Project Management & Consultancy team at Vattenfall IT is looking for you!

As a business-specialized IT project manager for Hydropower, you will gain knowledge of their operations, which will be your unique superpower. You will work closely with the core business to enable knowledge transfer and ensure a close connection to business processes and expertise. You will work on some of our most important IT projects that enable business processes through IT systems, and part of your focus will be on infrastructure and IT security components. But above all, you are a fantastic project manager who drives your project team towards the goal together.

You will be part of Vattenfall's international IT organization and work in the Asset IT Project Management & Consultancy team. We are located in Amsterdam, Kolding, Stockholm, and also in Luleå. We work closely with the business areas that produce and distribute electricity, where our team supports their most complex and strategic IT projects.

You will independently lead projects according to VPGP (Vattenfall's project model). One of your strengths will be your knowledge of how Hydropower or Electricity Distribution drives their projects according to Vattenfall's project model and how to weave this together with how Vattenfall IT drives its projects. You will also gain exciting insights into the business processes of the respective business units and be able to apply this in the projects. Many of the projects and requirement documents are documented in Swedish.

The deep technical knowledge resides with the project members, but you will use your experience in IT and understanding of how IT systems and technology can be used to drive projects forward. Since our operations are spread across the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Denmark, and Sweden, it is important that you can engage a geographically dispersed project group.

Main Responsibilities as an IT Project Manager:

  • Drive projects from concept development to completion: plan, execute, monitor project progress, follow up, and deliver projects according to or exceeding customer expectations
  • Understand the project's value and deliverables: the customer's needs and translate these into IT requirements.
  • Manage project budgets and allocate resources
  • Communicate and coordinate with various stakeholders: customers, solution architects, other IT departments, external suppliers, etc.
  • Develop, implement, distribute, and manage project plans
  • Lead and support international project team members by being active and engaging

Requirements Specification

We are looking for someone who/has:

  • Has worked as an IT project manager for at least 5 years
  • Has knowledge in IT
  • Has a genuine interest in the energy industry
  • Has experience in change management
  • Has engagement and a positive attitude to handle complex tasks
  • Has an academic degree in IT, engineering, or a relevant field
  • Fluent in Swedish and English in both spoken and written form
  • It is an advantage if you have experience from a large organization with a complex work environment

To thrive in this role, we believe you are a driven and organized team player with good communication skills and a problem-solving mindset. You have the ability to work independently and build relationships with other project members. You feel comfortable sharing your ideas and being challenged in them.
