About the position
As an employee of the Swedish Armed Forces, you contribute to Sweden's defense capability. In the current security political situation, the government has decided to strengthen military capability. This means that the Armed Forces and the Life Guards are growing. We are looking for someone who has recently completed military basic training and who wants to work with and learn more about photography and communication. The employment is temporary according to the collective agreement for GSS/K. This is a junior position. The position is located in the communication department of the Life Guards, which is part of the regiment staff. The communication department of the Life Guards is responsible for the unit's strategic and operational communication work, both internally and externally, to support the Armed Forces' overall goals and missions.
Responsibilities
The tasks in this position are varied but include, among other things:
- Planning content and producing both film and still images and editing these for the Life Guards' social media.
- Creating material and writing text for the image material.
- Publishing and moderating the Life Guards' social media.
- Responsible for maintaining the Life Guards' photographic equipment, managing the image archive, and supporting the Life Guards' other units and partners in retrieving images from the archive as needed.
- Supporting the communication department with other tasks that arise within the department.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Completed military service with approved grades, within the last 5 years, or employed GSS recently
- Driver's license B
- Experience in photography/filming
Personal qualities
The communication department currently consists of a communication manager, two communicators, and two school informants. Since we are a small department, it is important that you are easy to collaborate with, positive and solution-oriented, but also used to working independently. If you are interested in communication work, photography, film, and enjoy developing and learning new things, there are good opportunities for you to thrive with us. The position requires you to be responsible and willing to work in the environments where we operate, such as during military exercises, around the royal palaces, and in dog and horse stables.
Great emphasis will be placed on social competence and personal suitability.
Meritorious
- Experience as a soldier, preferably within the army
- Experience and a strong interest in photography and filming as well as processing image material. You will need to show work samples
- Interest in social media and its possibilities
- Experience working with image and video editing in Adobe Suite programs (Adobe Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro). Alternatively, a strong interest in learning these and other similar tools
- Ability to express yourself well in writing
Other
Employment form: GSS/K (max 8+4 years), the employment may start with a six-month probationary period.
Employment rate: full-time
Work location: Kungsängen
Salary: individual salary setting, the lowest salary for GSS/K is 25,000 SEK/month
Business trips may occur
Start date as soon as possible or as agreed

The Life Guards is one of the largest units in the Armed Forces with roots dating back to 1521. We train tomorrow's soldiers, as well as military police and personnel who will carry out international missions. We guard the royal palaces, we have security and ground combat units. We are also responsible for preserving and developing the Swedish military music tradition. Our headquarters is in Kungsängen outside Stockholm, but we are also present in Sollentuna, central Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, and Karlskrona.
