Traffic and Society

Traffic and Society is part of Region Uppsala, one of the largest employers in Uppsala County. Our department employs approximately 110 staff members. Our mission is to develop and operate sustainable transport for a growing Uppsala County. We develop, among other things, the infrastructure and public transport within the county. Under the brand UL, public transport is operated in collaboration with contracted transport companies. Our employees have a wide range of competencies and work in areas such as business development, procurement, urban planning, traffic planning, system management, finance, communication, sales, and customer service.

Working with something that affects so many people every day is challenging, responsible, and rewarding. 150,000 journeys are made with our public transport on a typical weekday, and the department now faces a series of exciting challenges related to the expansion of four tracks between Uppsala-Stockholm, the planned expansion of tramway in Uppsala, and delivering reliable transport despite a widespread driver shortage.

The Business Support Department is responsible for business development, project management, operational governance, and civil preparedness. We are ten employees and play an important role in working across departments to create conditions for the organization to deliver.

Your Mission

If you have a degree in project management and want to develop in a role as a project manager, there is an opportunity here to contribute to Uppsala's largest urban development project by introducing tramway in the city. You can help make a difference for the county's residents!

As a junior project manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting project management by creating structure and developing working methods and project documentation. Your tasks will include:

• Supporting project management in establishing and driving processes for project leadership, such as status reporting and resource planning.
• Creating meeting structures and organizing and booking meetings.
• Preparing materials for steering group meetings and preparation groups, as well as documenting meetings.
• Establishing and maintaining a documentation plan and ensuring that the project adheres to the plan, including record-keeping.
• Creating structures and spreading good practices for internal communication, for example, in the collaboration platforms used in the project.
• Additional tasks may arise based on project needs.

The tramway project is a collaborative project with Uppsala Municipality and the work is carried out in close cooperation with the municipality and politics.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in a relevant field.
• Education in project management.
• Knowledge of project management methods and tools, as well as extensive experience working with MS Office tools such as Excel.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.

Meritorious:

• Experience in managing smaller projects or working in a supportive role to project management in larger projects.

In the role of junior project manager, there are high demands on you to be service-oriented and enjoy creating conditions for others to deliver by building structures and collaborations. You are self-driven, proactive, and flexible. Since you are a vital part of leading the project work forward, other important qualities include being quality-conscious, communicative, and curious to learn new things.
