Latest SCB Opinion Poll: Social Democrats Decline, Left Party and Green Party Gain

On July 12, 2024, SCB released its latest opinion poll, and the results show interesting shifts in the political landscape. Here are the latest figures compared to the previous SCB survey:

Party Support According to SCB

  • Left Party: 8.20% (7.30%)
  • Social Democrats: 35.00% (38.60%)
  • Green Party: 5.20% (4.10%)
  • Center Party: 4.50% (4.20%)
  • Liberals: 3.20% (3.40%)
  • Moderates: 19.80% (19.10%)
  • Christian Democrats: 2.80% (3.70%)
  • Sweden Democrats: 19.50% (18.00%)

Analysis of the Results

The Social Democrats see a significant drop from 38.60% to 35.00%, which may indicate decreased trust or temporary dissatisfaction among voters. This is one of the largest declines the party has seen in recent months.

The Left Party and the Green Party have both increased their support, with the Left Party rising from 7.30% to 8.20% and the Green Party from 4.10% to 5.20%. This may suggest an increase in environmental awareness and a left-wing surge among voters.

The Moderates and Sweden Democrats show a stable increase. The Moderates rise from 19.10% to 19.80%, while the Sweden Democrats go from 18.00% to 19.50%. These figures indicate that the right-wing bloc still has strong support among a significant portion of the population.

The Christian Democrats see a decrease from 3.70% to 2.80%, which could be concerning for the party as they are below the parliamentary threshold of 4%. The Liberals also see a slight decrease from 3.40% to 3.20%.

Historical Trends

A look at previous opinion polls from other institutes shows that the Social Democrats have been on a downward trend in recent months. For example, in Novus' survey from June 24, 2024, they received 30.60%, and in Sentio's survey on the same date, they got 31.30%.

On the other hand, the Left Party has seen an upward trend. In Novus' survey from June 24, 2024, they received 9.60%, and in Sentio's survey from June 13, 2024, they got 8.70%.

The Green Party has also seen increases in various surveys. In Novus' survey from June 24, 2024, they received 7.40%, and in Sentio's survey from July 12, 2024, they got 7.10%.

What Does This Mean for the Future?

With these changes in opinion figures, we can expect a dynamic political autumn. The parties are likely to intensify their campaigns and strategies to regain or increase their support ahead of upcoming elections.

It remains to be seen how these trends will develop, but one thing is certain: the political landscape in Sweden is constantly changing.
