AI & Digital Innovation Lead

At Tekniska verken in Linköping, the Digitalization Division is undergoing a comprehensive transformation phase where new ways of working, structures, and capabilities are being built to meet future needs. AI and digital innovation will be key enablers in this development – but to create real value, more than just new technology is required.

Therefore, we are now looking for an AI & Digital Innovation Lead who can translate opportunities into structure, direction, and business value. This is a key role in developing how Tekniska verken works with artificial intelligence and digital innovation. The role is new and offers a unique opportunity to help build the group's capability in AI and digital innovation, and to shape how AI is used responsibly, securely, and in compliance with regulations in a socially critical business.

About the role

As AI & Digital Innovation Lead, you hold a senior specialist role within the Digitalization Division with a group-wide mandate to develop and drive Tekniska verken's AI and innovation capabilities. The role operates at the intersection of business, digitalization, and technology, serving as a strategic support to management, business units, and architecture functions.

You identify how AI and digital innovation can create the greatest value for the business, develop common ways of working and principles, and guide the organization in strategic choices. The role involves creating the right conditions for the organization to use AI and digital innovation in an effective, secure, and sustainable manner. You also drive structured work on digital innovation, ensuring that new ideas are captured, tested, and translated into concrete business value.

In this role, you are responsible for driving the practical development of responsible AI. Together with security and architecture functions, you translate requirements for governance, regulatory compliance, and security into ways of working and principles that the business can follow, supported by GDPR, EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001, and NIS2.

You will become a central driving force in establishing AI and digital innovation as a natural part of Tekniska verken's business development, working closely with Enterprise Architects, business-oriented applications, information security, and other specialist functions.

Key responsibilities:

• Contribute to Tekniska verken's AI and innovation strategy, target state, and roadmap.
• Identify and analyze how AI and digital innovation can contribute to increased business value across the group's different business areas.
• Drive and structure the work on digital innovation – capture, qualify, and test new ideas and translate them into concrete initiatives.
• Provide strategic advice to management and business units on AI, data-driven development, and digital innovation.
• Drive the development of AI governance together with architecture and security functions and translate it into applicable ways of working and principles.
• Ensure that AI-related initiatives comply with relevant regulations and standards – GDPR, EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001, and NIS2.
• Contribute to establishing principles and frameworks for AI.
• Qualify, prioritize, and evaluate AI initiatives based on business value, risk, and feasibility.
• Translate business needs into feasible concepts and guide architecture and delivery functions in implementation.
• Evaluate AI platforms, vendors, and technical solutions as a basis for strategic choices and procurement.
• Conduct environmental scanning and analyze developments in AI, data, and digital innovation to translate new opportunities into concrete business development.
• Contribute to raising the organization's maturity in AI and digital innovation through training, workshops, and knowledge sharing.

About you

The role involves many contact points and close collaboration with both business units, management, and specialist functions. Therefore, it is important that you are skilled at building trust, creating engagement, and translating complex issues into clear recommendations and concrete initiatives.

To succeed in the role, we believe you have experience in several of the following areas:

• An academic degree in IT, systems science, computer science, information systems, or another relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
• Several years of experience in a senior role within AI, computer science, data platforms, digital innovation, business development, or architecture, preferably in a large organization or group.
• Documented experience in translating business needs into technically feasible AI and data initiatives.
• Experience in strategic and advisory work close to management or decision-making forums.
• Deep understanding of artificial intelligence, generative AI, machine learning, data analysis, and the rapid development within the field.
• Experience in developing or working with principles, governance, or frameworks for AI, data, or digital development.
• Experience in responsible AI, AI governance, or risk management in collaboration with security and architecture functions.
• Good knowledge of relevant regulations and standards within AI, information security, and data protection, such as GDPR, EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001, and NIS2.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues in a clear and pedagogical manner.
• Very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you have experience from socially critical operations, the energy sector, or other complex organizations, as well as experience in AI, information governance, or data management.
