Your responsibilities

We are looking for you who want to build and manage digital flows from GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to 3D. Right now, we are on the verge of strengthening the municipality's internal 3D capabilities, and you will become a key player in developing new solutions for a modern urban planning process. In the role of GIS Engineer with a focus on 3D, you will convert raw data – such as images and laser data – into structured textures, 3D objects, and height models. You will also develop, administer, and maintain our GIS platform, our GIS and 3D services, and their applications in operations. You will support the entire municipality with communication and decision support by analyzing, processing, and visualizing geographic information, as well as working on planning, follow-up, and implementation of new solutions. The role also involves providing support to and training our users. As a creative element, you can also work with pure 3D modeling and visualization to create extra vivid and pedagogical decision support materials.

Your workplace

The Environmental and Urban Planning Administration is housed in pleasant premises in modern Ebbepark, right in the center of innovation, where the city is still constantly developing. As a GIS Engineer, you belong to the Geodata and Digital Development unit. The unit consists of 17 skilled employees; GIS, Surveying Engineers, and Development Managers who support the entire municipal corporation with geographic services and products.

You who apply

We are looking for you with a university education in GIS or other education that the employer considers equivalent.

We would like you to have experience in analyzing, processing, developing, and visualizing geographic information. If you have also been involved in developing, planning, following up, and implementing new GIS solutions, this is considered an advantage. Experience in converting images and laser data into textures, 3D objects, and height models, as well as 3D modeling and visualization, is also considered an advantage. Experience with ESRI software and FME is advantageous, as is experience with GIS-related programming.

The position involves a lot of documentation, which requires good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.

In the role of GIS Engineer, you work to support the core operations of the municipality, so you need to thrive in the service role, which requires you to be driven by a desire to help others. You work in a team, which presupposes that you have good cooperation skills while driving your own projects. You therefore need to be confident in working independently and in adapting when circumstances change, without risking that goals and results are jeopardized.
