The Department of Culture and Leisure is responsible for the municipality's cultural and leisure activities. Our main task is to help people nurture and develop their interests in culture, leisure, and sports. We serve all residents of the municipality, but children and young adults are a prioritized target group. We are expanding our team with several hourly hosts for our operations at Kulturhuset Komedianten, including Varberg Theatre and Varberg Art Hall, as well as for Gallery Hamnmagasinet. We are now looking for you who want a fun part-time job where you help create the conditions for our visitors' cultural experiences!

Job Responsibilities

The tasks are varied and suit you if you enjoy meeting people, thrive in social settings, and are not afraid to jump in where needed.

As a host at Varberg Theatre, you are the person who ensures the dressing rooms are ready before an event, welcomes the artists performing, arranges coffee breaks, and prepares for the audience entry. When the audience is ready to enter, you check tickets, inform about any intervals, and direct people to the restrooms. You are also responsible for safety and will receive relevant training and briefings so you feel secure in emergency situations or similar scenarios.

As a host at Varberg Art Hall and Gallery Hamnmagasinet, you are the first point of contact for visitors. You can provide information about the exhibitions and lead introductions or guided tours when needed or scheduled.

The job involves varied tasks, and you who apply are equally enthusiastic about working as an audience host as you are about being an art host. Evening and weekend shifts are common. Sometimes you receive your schedule well in advance, but sometimes the question of whether you can work may come with short notice.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with relevant education, preferably university level with a focus on events, art, or culture, or equivalent experience. You must be at least 18 years old, and prior experience in any form of hosting is meritorious.

You have a strong interest in art and culture, good language skills in Swedish and English, and knowledge of other languages is a plus. You are social, enjoy working with people, and can work independently. You have no problem giving presentations or speaking in front of a group.

It is an advantage if you live in or near Varberg, as there is sometimes a need to bring in hosts with short notice. A driver's license is not a requirement but is meritorious.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability and make a holistic assessment of your combined competencies.

Employment Terms

• Salary: Hourly wage
• Employment type: Fixed-term employment
• Duration: 2026-09-14 to 2027-09-13 (Start date by agreement)
• Working hours: The amount of working time varies greatly, but we estimate an average of around 10 hours per month.

Questions about the position will be answered primarily during the period of August 10–14. Interviews will take place at Kulturhuset Komedianten in Varberg during the days of August 25–29.
