We are now looking for a Unit Manager for Roads and Parks in Habo Municipality!

The unit is part of the Technical Administration, which consists of six units: property, planning and development, building permits, catering, roads/parks, and the water and wastewater unit. The Technical Administration plays a vital role in the municipality's daily life and long-term development, responsible for functions and environments that affect people's daily lives and the municipality's future development.

As the Unit Manager for Roads and Parks, you will have the opportunity to lead, develop, and coordinate a well-functioning operation with dedicated employees, stable finances, and clear future ambitions. You are responsible for the municipality's roads, parks and green areas, playgrounds, street lighting, and forest management – areas that are of great significance to the residents' daily lives and the municipality's attractiveness.

You lead approximately 20 employees and are responsible for operations, personnel, and economy. The role involves a combination of strategic development work and hands-on leadership where you drive issues from idea to implementation.

You will become an important part of the Technical Administration and work closely with colleagues, contractors, authorities, and other actors to create safe, sustainable, and attractive environments for the residents of Habo.

Your Assignment

The assignment gives you the opportunity to build on a well-functioning unit while simultaneously driving development forward in areas such as infrastructure, maintenance, procurement, and long-term planning.

The role suits you if you thrive combining hands-on leadership with development issues within contracting, construction, and public environments. You are part of the Technical Administration's management group together with other unit managers and report directly to the Head of Administration.

The assignment includes, among other things:

• Leadership and development of employees and operations
• Project management within roads, parks, and construction areas
• Principal responsibility for contaminated sites
• Planning, design, and procurement of contracts and construction works
• Budgeting, financial follow-up, and long-term planning
• Development of maintenance plans
• Contact with authorities, contractors, and other external actors

The assignment also includes close cooperation with other units within the Technical Administration, especially in matters concerning the development of the municipality's public environments and infrastructure.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a relevant technical background and experience from the field of operation. You may have worked in the public sector, on the contracting side, or in business, and you have an understanding of how projects and operations are driven from planning to implementation and thrive in a role where leadership, development, and community building meet.

For the role, we want you to have:

• Relevant university education in, for example, roads and water, community building, construction, or other technical experience that the employer deems equivalent
• Experience from the field of operation, for example within roads, parks, construction, asphalt, contracting, or infrastructure
• Experience of leading others or of driving projects, working groups, or contracts with good results
• Experience of planning, procurement, implementation, and follow-up within contracting or construction-related operations
• Understanding of economic management, budgeting, and follow-up
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
• Ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing
• Valid driver's license category B

Experience from public operations is meritorious, but not a requirement.
