Description
Do you want to help shape the future Älvkarleby?
As a Building Permit Officer/Inspector, you play a key role in the development and preservation of our built environment. Here, you have the opportunity to make a real difference – every day – by contributing to a sustainable, safe, and pleasant municipality where people and nature live in harmony.
We are now looking for you who have experience with building permit processing and supervision and who wish to continue developing in your profession together with an engaged team.
Your responsibilities
In this role, you will have broad and independent responsibility within both the building permit and supervision processes. Your tasks will include, among other things:
- Process and make decisions in building permit cases according to the Planning and Building Act (PBL), the Planning and Building Ordinance (PBF), and current regulations from the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning (Boverket).
- Actively work with supervision cases according to PBL, including follow-up of completed or ongoing measures, investigation of deviations, and potential decisions regarding corrections.
- Conduct site visits, technical consultations, workplace visits, and final consultations.
- Provide advice and service to citizens, businesses, and other actors regarding building permits, the building process, and applicable legislation.
- Participate in the municipality's planning work and contribute your specialist knowledge.
- Contribute to the development of working methods and routines to ensure quality, efficiency, and legal certainty.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who:
- Have a university or university college degree as an engineer, architect, lawyer, building permit officer, or equivalent acquired knowledge/training that the employer deems relevant for the assignment.
- Have practical experience with building permit processing and supervision according to PBL, preferably from a municipality or other authority.
- Have good knowledge of current building legislation: PBL, PBF, and the new regulations from Boverket that replace BBR.
- Are self-reliant, meticulous, and confident in making decisions supported by law and legal precedent.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and have good service skills.
- Thrive in a role that combines office work with inspection work in the field.
- Have a solution-oriented approach to work and see the big picture in societal planning issues.
- Have previous experience working digitally with various programs and systems, as well as good oral and written skills in Swedish.
- It is an advantage if you have experience from municipal decision-making processes, are accustomed to working in a politically governed organization, and have experience with authority operations.
We offer you
- A socially important assignment with direct impact on the municipality's development.
- A varied job where you can combine processing, advice, and inspection.
- An engaged work group with close collaboration and support.
- Opportunities for competence development in areas such as PBL, supervision methodology, and law.
- Flexible working hours and a good balance between work and private life.
- Close collaboration with colleagues in physical planning and environmental and health protection, who also work on the same department – together we create a whole in societal planning.
