In our administration, over 1,000 employees work across five different operations: Property, Streets and Parks, Digital Transformation & IT, Meal Service, and Cleaning and Facility Services. We plan, build, and maintain properties, roads, and outdoor environments. We provide transport services and handle internal assignments to ensure the municipality's operations function smoothly. For example, we ensure that the IT environment works and is secure, that our premises are kept clean, and that the municipality's schools and residential facilities can serve healthy meals. What unites us is the desire to make daily life easier for Umeå's approximately 130,000 residents.

Meal Service in Umeå Municipality covers the preparation and serving of lunches in preschools, primary and lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, restaurants, as well as to several units within elderly care. Our task is to provide good service and healthy, nutritious meals for our guests, and together with staff in schools and care facilities, to create an understanding of the importance of food for good health and well-being. Through public meals, meal service contributes to good public health and sustainable development.

Dragonskolan is one of Sweden's largest upper secondary schools. More than 2,200 high school students meet here every day in central facilities. The school has Umeå's largest program offering and provides high-quality education in a wide range of areas.

We are now looking for a Meal Assistant!

Your responsibilities

As a Meal Assistant with us, you will work in the school restaurant with all common tasks. You will provide good service and contribute to having satisfied guests. In accordance with the municipality's goals, operational plan, meal concept, and policy documents, you will among other things work with:

• Preparation and cleanup in the kitchen and restaurant
• Certain cooking tasks, e.g., preparing pasta, rice, potatoes, and side dishes for the day's meals
• Preparing a high-quality, seasonally adjusted salad buffet
• Cost awareness and balanced budgeting

About you

As a person, you are flexible, responsible, and have a good ability to find solutions in daily work. You thrive in a role where the pace is sometimes high and tasks may vary. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills and contribute to a positive work climate through professional and respectful treatment of both colleagues and students. You enjoy working with a service-oriented mindset and have a genuine interest in creating a pleasant dining environment. You are meticulous in your work, take initiative, and are confident in taking responsibility for your tasks both independently and together with others. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Cooking education, upper secondary education in food and catering, or equivalent experience
• Experience working in large-scale kitchens and public meals
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing
• A valid extract from the Swedish Criminal Record Register, due to the Act on Suitability Control
