Our Operations
The Medical Unit for Habilitation belongs to the Disability Services area within the Primary Care and Health administration at Region Uppsala. The habilitation services cater to children, youth, and adults with disabilities; including autism with or without intellectual disability, intellectual disability, mobility impairment, multiple disabilities, and acquired brain injury.
The medical unit focuses on identifying and addressing medical complications that may be linked to a disability. This may include issues related to sleep, nutrition, or mental health. The unit collaborates closely with habilitation departments and coordinates with physicians at Uppsala University Hospital.
The unit also holds healthcare responsibility up to the nurse level for children's residential homes, short-term accommodation for children and youth in Region Uppsala, short-term LSS (Support and Service Act) accommodations for adults, and certain HVB (residential care) homes.
On the medical unit, you will work alongside physicians, nurses, dietitians, and administrators. We also have pediatric neurologists and ST-doctors from Uppsala University Hospital, as well as child psychiatry consultants who hold clinics in our facilities for certain children within the habilitation services.
