Job Description
Are you a skilled writer with experience quickly mastering entirely new fields? Do you have the ability to rapidly gather facts and deliver accurate responses to the media? If so, we have the perfect assignment for you. We are currently recruiting a Press Communications Officer for our client in central Stockholm.
Assignment Period: August 3rd to December 31st.
Location & Hours: On-site at the client's premises. Full-time hours: Monday–Thursday 07:45–16:30 (45-minute lunch), Friday 07:45–16:00.
Responsibilities
As a Press Communications Officer, you will work alongside the press manager on the client's media relations. Your duties include proactive and reactive media management, as well as providing excellent service to journalists. You will act as the client's spokesperson and support executives and staff in their media interactions. You will conduct analyses and develop action plans related to current projects and initiatives, and handle ongoing media monitoring for the organization.
You must be prepared to be on call and work outside standard office hours when necessary. You will collaborate closely with the communications department, other client departments, the City Executive Office, and various municipal boards. In addition to press service tasks, you will also have opportunities to work on other communication matters.
You should be able to explain complex issues clearly to diverse audiences and possess strong skills in writing plain language for press releases and intranet content. You must have extensive knowledge of the municipality's operations, media landscapes, and the ability to anticipate which questions will attract media interest and how best to address them. Strong skills in disseminating messages both internally and externally are essential.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in communications or equivalent.
- At least three years of experience in strategic and operational media work as a communicator, press manager, press chief, or press secretary.
- Extensive experience acting as a spokesperson for the media.
- Proven track record in writing press releases.
- Experience in strategic and operational communications work.
- Experience supporting spokespeople ahead of media interviews.
- Excellent command of Swedish, both spoken and written.
- Experience working in the public sector.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in crisis communications.
- Experience handling press matters within a municipality.
- Experience in external communications for organizations focused on infrastructure, urban development, or traffic issues.
