Surahammar Library is a meeting place where everyone is welcome for cultural experiences and knowledge acquisition. The operations are located in Surahammar, Ramnäs, and Virsbo. We engage in outreach activities outside the library premises and collaborate with several actors in various contexts. The library has reading promotion work for both children and adults. Surahammar Library is part of the Library in Västmanland cooperation with a joint library database system for Västmanland.

Job Responsibilities

The role of librarian includes standard duties such as reading promotion, information and media work, weeding, and purchasing. You plan and carry out activities with the library's visitors, help them with information searching and source criticism, as well as digital guidance. Shifts at the information desk according to schedule. The position includes evening and weekend work.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for you with a university degree in Library and Information Science, good knowledge of literature, and good digital competence.

Bilingual competence in Swedish/Finnish (Surahammar Municipality is a Finnish-speaking administrative area)

Employment Terms and Conditions

Employment Type: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent, start date: 2026-10-01 or by agreement.

Before you can be employed, you must show a clean extract from the Police's suspicion register and the criminal record register that is no more than 6 months old.

In connection with the interview, you need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or alternatively a certificate of residence together with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.
