We are now looking for you who wants to become our new colleague within forensic psychiatry.

As a care assistant, you work in a team with nurses, doctors, social workers, and medical secretaries. In the team, care, treatment, and planning are coordinated together with the patient based on individual needs.

You perform basic and psychiatric care and contribute to assessments of medication and treatment, care needs, support, and follow-up. The role involves close collaboration with other units within adult psychiatry as well as care partners outside our own operations.

About you

You are educated as a care assistant, assistant nurse, therapeutic pedagogue, or have correctional service training. Previous work experience from psychiatry, treatment homes, correctional services, or similar operations is meritorious.

The role requires that you are confident in yourself and your role, and that you have good collaboration skills. You need to be clear in your communication and able to provide patients with a low-affective approach.

You thrive in a varied work environment, are flexible in your working methods, and can easily adapt to changed circumstances.

Your future workplace

Last autumn, we moved into the newly built psychiatric house on the hospital grounds in Västervik, where we have now gathered all adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry in the same building. You will have the opportunity to work in spacious, nice premises with staff areas offering a beautiful view over the city of Västervik.

Forensic psychiatry in Västervik is a county resource for the entire Region Kalmar County. In connection with the move to our new psychiatric house, we have increased the number of care beds from 12 to 24. These also include two places for detained persons with restrictions. In open forensic psychiatric care, we have approximately 30 patients.

You meet patients with varying diagnoses, conditions, and needs, which makes the work varied and developing.

We are part of the psychiatric administration in Region Kalmar County. Within the administration, a total of 600 employees work with specialist psychiatric care for adults, children and adolescents, forensic psychiatric care, and rehabilitation care.
