To ensure that all animals in Sweden have the conditions to live as good a life as possible, there are the District Veterinarians (Distriktsveterinärerna). With 24/7 readiness, clinics across the country, and unique knowledge of animal health, we contribute to healthier animals and a more secure life. As district veterinarians, we work on behalf of private individuals, companies, and authorities. We offer socially essential services for emergency animal healthcare, disease control, and preventive measures for good animal health. Always grounded and with heart in the right place. The District Veterinarians are part of the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket).

We are the clinic that is passionate about professional development and where you never work alone.

Our veterinary staffing consists of 11 members, and we have the capacity to maintain double on-call duty. This means there are always two veterinarians working together during on-call shifts. We have several licensed veterinary nurses, animal caretakers, receptionists, and a licensed BMA (Bachelor of Medical Assistant), which is a major strength in our investigations. Here, you work daily with nurses, alongside a mentor during surgeries, or why not join your veterinary colleague out in the field when needed to solve today's tasks.

The clinic features a fresh, modern style and is one of the largest within the District Veterinarians network, located centrally in the city. In January 2023, we also opened the doors to our brand-new equine clinic at the same address.

Here, you can develop within the areas you desire. Everything from internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, diagnostic imaging, lameness investigations to emergency care for all animal species.

Our work is divided between small animals at the clinic and fieldwork with horses and livestock, and now also work at our equine clinic for those who wish.

Our readiness and 24/7 service give us the opportunity to have a broad basic competence across several animal species, but there is also the possibility to specialize in one species since we maintain double coverage.

Örnsköldsvik – Nature and Outdoor Life

Örnsköldsvik offers a wide range of activities for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The municipality is part of the High Coast (Höga Kusten), featuring a fantastic archipelago and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We have, above all, the Skuleskogen National Park, which takes you through classic fairy-tale forests with massive spruces, down into deep valleys, past bare rock formations, and up to breathtaking mountain peaks. Örnsköldsvik has ski slopes, excellent cross-country skiing trails, and an adventure pool is also part of the offerings.

Job Responsibilities

As a veterinarian with us, you will work with small animals at the clinic and/or large animals in the field, or with horses at the clinic. Our clients are largely composed of pre-booked patients. On-call duty is also a natural part of the position, where you will encounter patients of various species. However, there is an option to choose exclusively small animals or large animals, as we always have two veterinarians on call.

Our small animal clinic is well-equipped, and the facility offers possibilities for day care. All standard outpatient examinations and investigations can be performed, as well as surgical procedures.

We offer excellent opportunities for development, further education, and specialization in areas of interest for those who desire it. We appreciate it if you work with all animal species, but there is an option to choose, for example, only small animals or horses.

Qualifications
