We are a force that binds together, holds together and develops the county. Within Region Västernorrland, we are all part of something bigger.

About the Department

We are a surgical inpatient ward that cares for patients before and after surgery. We have a high turnover of patients and with us you will get stimulating and varied work where the pace can be both high and low, where no day is like the other. We provide surgical care following colorectal surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, urology, vascular surgery and ENT. A large part of our operations is planned surgery, but we also provide 24/7 intake from the emergency department and other clinics to our urological, vascular and ENT sections.

With us, you will be involved in development and improvement work that constantly moves us and healthcare forward.

Surgical Ward 15 has 24 care beds staffed by dedicated nurses, nursing assistants, doctors and other important health professions who work together in teams around the patients. We also have nurses with specialist functions. We have started a collaboration with Professor Anna Forsberg, sometimes called the queen of nursing. Together with her, we are developing structures to create secure care relationships with continuity, daily systematic assessment and analysis of the patient's health and situation according to head-to-toe (all patients must be examined by a nurse with warm hands every work shift) as well as strengthening nurses in their leadership role.

On the unit, you work with a digital patient overview via a personal tablet that you carry with you during your work shift. In the tablet, you have a very good overview of your patients, their tasks and conditions, medication lists, as well as which tasks you and your colleagues are to perform.

Our employees are our most important resource and therefore we care that you have a developing, secure and sustainable working life.

We use a clear introduction program to welcome newly employed nurses, which means you get a secure and good start to your career regardless of previous experience level. It also lays a good foundation for a further career.

Do you want to become part of our team? We are now looking for nurses to Surgical Ward 15 in Sundsvall. The positions are permanent full-time employment with access as agreed.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include taking care of the postoperative patient and the acutely ill patient, which includes practical tasks such as:

  • administration of medication
  • infusions and injections
  • handling of pain pumps

But also more administrative tasks such as:

  • patient education
  • identification of care needs and risk areas

Together with our nursing assistants, you plan and lead the work with the patient in focus. Here you gain broad competence covering surgical care of chronically and acutely ill patients and develop a deeper understanding of the patient's disease pattern. We offer you a good introduction, clear routines, competence development, and present leadership. But perhaps most importantly, we offer you work with fantastic colleagues. You are also offered supervision by our specialist nurse in surgery. We have recurring lectures for continuous competence development.

The work involves rotation shifts with day/evening and night. Rotation to night shifts occurs only after dialogue with the manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • Are a registered nurse and even you who are studying semester 6 of the nursing program are warmly welcome to apply
  • Have good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing

It is meritorious for the position if you:

  • Have experience of working in surgery
  • Have further education in surgery

To succeed in the role, we believe you have these personal qualities:
