The Position and Responsibilities
Do you want to make a difference for children and young people? We are now looking for a temporary Social Secretary for our reception center for children and young people. The position is a temporary contract until January 2028.
As a Social Secretary at the reception center for children and young people, you play a key role in the first meeting between citizens and social services. Here, you work with both acute and preventive measures to ensure that children and young people receive the right support at the right time. You meet families in vulnerable life situations and help build trust in social services through professional and relationship-building interactions.
Your main responsibilities:
- Receive and process applications and reports of concern for children aged 0–18
- Conduct safety assessments on the same day and preliminary assessments within 14 days
- Hold conversations with children and guardians to assess the need for interventions
- Document according to current legislation and work according to BBIC
- Staff the reception phone during office hours
- Collaborate with schools, preschools, Child Health Centers (BVC), Mental Health Centers (BMM), police, and other actors
- Inform about the mission of social services in civil society and to citizens
- Participate in and sometimes organize activities outside office hours.
The Reception Center for Children and Young People is a central function within social services in Botkyrka Municipality. We work to ensure that all children and young people have a safe and good upbringing. The unit has a broad mandate – in addition to authority exercises, we actively work with early and preventive interventions. With the transition to a new Social Services Act, we are given even better opportunities to work proactively and preventively, in close collaboration with other actors in society. Through our information efforts in the local community, we contribute to highlighting the support provided by social services and early identification of children in need of help.
We offer you
Here, you will meet a warm, stable, and collaboration-oriented work group with high competence and great commitment to children's rights and well-being. As a new employee, you are welcomed into a context where we take responsibility together, help each other in daily life, and are always close to one another – regardless of how complex the situation is. You will join a culture where we believe in participation, openness, and trust, and where both laughter and seriousness have a place.
We have developed a sustainable and structured way of working that provides security and recovery. Work is performed in teams with a rotating schedule where on-call weeks alternate with assessment weeks, creating a balance between pace and reflection. You will receive a thorough introduction and will never be left alone – colleagues and management are always nearby. Development is a natural part of everyday life here, with access to methodological support, supervision, and competence development. Here, you have the opportunity to grow, deepen your knowledge, and help develop the social services of the future.

You who apply to us
We are looking for you who have a degree in social work and documented experience in authority exercises within the area of children and young people. You need to be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as documentation is a central part of the work.
For the position, you must have:
- Experience working in situations with high tempo and acute elements
- Experience in documenting objectively and concisely is crucial, as the documentation forms the basis for decisions, legal security, and follow-up.
We consider it meritorious if you have:
- Education in and experience working according to BBIC and/or Signs of Safety
- Work experience from reception work within children and young people
- Experience working with solutions in the family's network
- Category B driver's license
In the role of Social Secretary at the Reception Center for Children and Young People, you need to have strong collaboration skills. You work closely with colleagues, management, and external actors, and you contribute to a team spirit where we help each other, take responsibility together, and support each other in quick assessments.
Since you meet children and families in vulnerable situations, it is important that you have a relationship-building ability and can create trust through respectful and empathetic interactions. You also need to be structured and able to handle several cases in parallel – plan, prioritize, and document in a clear and legally secure manner. The work requires stability; you need to be secure in your professional role and able to maintain calm even in pressurized or emotionally demanding situations.
